At what point would you talk to the parents of a neighbor kid that was, for lack of a better word, harassing you? Any of the below offenses?
How would you deal with:
a: TP/ egging the house
b: ringing the doorbell & running away
c: stealing yard decorations
d: destroying flowerbeds/landscaping
What's the worst "bratty neighbor kid" you've had? How did you deal with it?
Were YOU a bratty neighbor kid?
There's this kid down the street. Some days, he's friends with my son, other days, he's a bully and a jerk. One day, they'll walk to school together, the next day, D comes home with a face full of mud, cuz the hellion decided to toss him in a puddle. Its not just my kid, several other kids in the neighborhood get bullied by him.
He also occasionally messes with our yard - once he left the hose on beside the house during a water fight, flooding the side yard. He's messed with the gardens in front of the house, and thrown stuff at the front door. I've never SEEN him do these things, but I have enough witnesses, and he's the most likely culprit - I've made a point ot be on most of the kids' good side around here - it just makes it easier on everyone if you all get along.
So anyway, 2 days ago, the doorbell rang. It was about 8 PM. I ran down to get the door; my Grandma (who is 81 and lives in a basement suite @ my house) was also answering it - hers had rung as well. Of course, no one was there. I looked out the upstairs front window, and saw the brat's friend hiding behind a lightpost. I told him I could see him, and that I knew who they were, and to please stop doing it.
10 minutes later, they did it again. Instead of answering the door, I went down to Grandma's and told her not to worry about getting it -the kids were just messing around. Heading back upstairs, I looked out the window beside the door - and they were right in the middle of the road in front of my house, abotu to do it again!! So I opened the door, told them to at least stop bugging my 81 year old Grandmother, and turned off the front light.
That was it - for that night. But it'll happen again , and now that the days are getting longer, I'm sure it'll be more often, too.
I know its wrong, but I hate that kid.
