Doing things over

So you have probably heard people say "If I had a time machine, I'd change what I did here" or "If I could do over one thing in my life", etc. My question is, would you really? While there are certainly situations where I myself would like to do this, when I really look back on things, I realize that I am the way I am now because of those experiences. They certainly weren't enjoyable experiences, but I would like to think that I am different now because I made those choices/mistakes when I did, and that I am a better person now for it, rather than what I could still be if I didn't have those mistakes/choices to make.

So what is your thought? If knowing that a particular incident changed you for the better, would you still change that particular moment if you could? If so, why?
