I'm just wanting to collect stories in relation to something that recently happened to me.
On Saturday I threw out my back. I was about to clean my hot tub- I took the top off and climbed under my deck to drain it, then I went inside and sat down. I was doing nothing outside of my normal range of activity. Over the span of 5 minutes, my lower back started to REALLY hurt, then it got to the point where I was immobile because of the pain. For 2 days I was in constant pain and couldn't move around much. Now I'm feeling slightly better but it still hurts pretty bad throughout the day. I can move around and go to school and stuff but I can't pick anything up that is heavier than a book without hurting, and any repetitive simple motion (like putting up groceries) makes me hurt really bad.
I haven't gone to a doctor yet because a. I don't have health insurance (getting on it soon though) and b. I didn't think there was anything that they could do except give me pain meds (which I don't want to take if at all possible).
My mom is a nurse and tomorrow she's going to ask her neurologist friend if she has any insight into my condition, and she said I should see a doctor soon if it doesn't get better, regardless of insurance.
I'm really nervous, I have heard that back injuries can and often do give people lifelong trouble. I'm only 22 and I don't want to be stuck with a bad back for the rest of my life. :-(
