I'm particularly interested in stories of older kittens/young adult cats, but any age cat is fine.
Also, are there any communities specifically dedicated to this subject? I searched under cat, and found a lot of general cat communities. I searched under feral and got a bunch of furry communities. *shudder*
My friend's mother found a young cat (first estimated at ~6 months, but she may be a little older and malnourished) with three kittens of her own. The kittens have all found homes, and I've agreed to take the mother, provided she has no major health issues.
My friend is currently helping his mom trap the family and take them to the vet. After they get to the vet, I'll have a better idea of how old the mom and kittens are and when I can take her, since the kittens are still nursing.
I've been reading a lot of "how to" guides on the internet, but I haven't seen a lot of personal stories, and I'm interested in collecting some of those. All the pessimistic writing on taming cats older than 12 weeks has me a little nervous, because I would like to make this whole ordeal as smooth as possible for cat, boyfriend, and me. I'm prepared for a hard time, but my greatest fear is finding her unable to be tamed after moving her two states away from her original home.
