The book question below reminded me of a book I read a long time ago, but I remember so little about it that my attempt at looking it up on google is like a needle in a haystack. But, maybe somebody out there recognizes it. The one I read was a hard back book without a dust jacket, so I don't even have a cover to go by. I don't remember if was any good or not, I'm just really curious what its name is. It was more than 10 years ago that I read it and I don't remember the gender of the real author. Sketchy, I know.

Its a 1st person fictional diary "written" by a woman who survives nuclear war. It's written in handwriting and has doodles in the margins as if it were real. I'm thinking maybe she lived in England, but I may be wrong on that. Anyway, I think she goes into the shelter without her husband. When she comes out, she finds his remains from where he had been waiting for her instead of going into the shelter himself. At the end, the book just stops, leaving you to conclude that she died.
