No, that's not a euphemism. You know how, when you open the oven door, a light comes on? I just moved to a new apartment and the vintage Hotpoint range oven in this apartment is so old, there IS NO LIGHT. I don't mean it's burned out, I mean there's no socket for a light, nothing, it's just dark in there. Makes it hard to see if cookies are done etc. without pulling them out, which means losing heat out of the oven, waiting for it to come back to temperature etc. Naturally, there's also no window in the oven door, but just having a light shine down on the cookies when I crack the door open would be better than this.
I bake a lot, so it's important to me. How can I get some light in my oven?
I've been charged with making the playlist for a fun fair my son's school is having. Hundreds of people of all ages, from 4 (or younger) to grandparents. I need about four hours of music and I'm about 75% of the way there. My taste's aren't super niche or anything but they certainly aren't pop...can you suggest any tunes for me? They have to have pretty inoffensive lyrics (that goes beyond simply not having cuss words in them - some mild suggestiveness is fine but overt sex or drug references are not so good). The more upbeat the better - so far a lot of pop music is pretty "down", and it's not a criticism, but it's a fun fair!
Bonus points to anyone who has kids that can suggest some of their favourite tunes for me!
So far I sorta have two kinds of songs:
1. Current-ish pop songs that at least some of the kids will be into. One Direction, Bieber, Imagine Dragons, some of Drake's clean songs, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, etc. If there are any non-pop songs that are current that kids like (that aren't inappropriate) I'd love to hear them!
2. Older songs that most parents would probably like that kids probably wouldn't hate instantly. Queen, "Don't Stop Believin'", Destiny's Child, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, "Sweet Child o' Mine", "Are you Gonna Be My Girl", etc.
All suggestions welcome!
