I thought piperki's recent question about shadowy figures in the dark was timely because lately I have been wondering if anyone else hears things at night that probably aren't there :-D Apparently hypnagogia is the catch all term for sights and sounds between sleeping and wakefulness.

Sometimes as I'm falling asleep, I hear a cacophony of random voices saying indistinguishable things. It's always struck me as weird. Sometimes I hear my mother calling my name or something falling. Perhaps not much stranger, I'll hear what sounds like a radio station on low volume playing when lying down (but not asleep). But, when I sit up, the sound vanishes. Do you have any experience with this particular bit of night time weirdness?
