|How to mount posters?

I'd used this mounting putty to put up two posters in kids' rooms, two years ago--they recently said they wanted to take them down--well, not a problem, right? Time for a change, they're older, and all that.
Well, the problem turned out to be that the mounting putty--despite the claims on the package that it doesn't damage the wall, it either leaves stains or takes some of the paint off the wall when removed.
I remember using white mounting tape in the college dorm to put up posters, but as I seem to recall, it also leaves some traces.
Anyone here know of any good products which will securely hold a 30x46 inch poster, without damaging the wall further? Thanks!
