To change the world, change your point of view.

If you are emotionally high strung, if that's the right phrase for it, how can you train yourself to think things through instead of going from 0 to 10 in crisis mode?  Shouldn't things get more mellow with age?  Is it worse because of recurrent bad experiences and lack of positive ones and support, or is it equally sucky for everyone and the bonus horror of things is all in my head?  This concerns big and small things.  I don't like this fight or flight roller coaster.  The innertube ride is more my tolerance level right now, or my easy chair with a book.
