last unicorn

The last book you read

1. What's the last book you read that you really enjoyed? What did you like about it?

2. What's the last book you read that you hated? Why did you hate it? (did you finish it anyway?)

3. What are you reading right now? How's it going so far?

My answers:

1. Cinnamon and Gunpowder by Eli Brown. I liked it because it was a fun, light read with adventure, a bit of romance and good descriptions of food. It's not a challenging read, it was a good time.

2. Honestly, I rarely actually hate books completely, but I tried reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Echo and I just couldn't get into it at all. I stopped after I was about a 3rd of the way through.

3. I'm reading Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's okay, but I feel like he describes people's outfits too much, and also I feel like it tries too hard to be deep in some spots.

Parent Favor?

My parents live across the country from me and are looking to move back over near me, a little more than an hour away.

Some background knowledge: My parents and I don't have the best relationship. More specifically, my mom and I don't have the best relationship. She is very judgemental of a lot of things in my life, whenever she comes to visit, she moves everything in my house and she is just...not the best thing for my life.

Anyway, they want my boyfriend and I to go look at an apartment for them to buy. We're both teachers so we have some time off, but it's over an hour away. I really don't want to waste 2+ hours of my time off going to look at apartments for them. And my boyfriend really doesn't want to either.

Should I tell them that I'd rather not go apartment hunting for them? Or should I just suck it up and go?
