The roof, the roof is on fire… wait, no it isn't
The smoke detector in my basement has been going off intermittently¹ all morning.
Since nothing's on fire, what's causing this? Nsrs²
²Srs: Most likely because it's old and should have been replaced years ago.
¹If it was actually detecting anything it wouldn't be quiet for long periods, then start going off, then shut itself off, then go off again, then go quiet for another long period.
