Cigarette Stench

First, I quit smoking almost one year ago.  Yay!  With that said, I am pretty sensitive to cigarette smoke now.  I can tolerate being outdoors with someone who is smoking, but I really do not appreciate being around it if I am not able to leave the smell.  For the most part, I just suck it up.  It's their right to smoke, afterall.  However, I would like any ideas how to deal with my coworker who sits just feet from me.  He smokes a couple times a day and, for some reason, it's stronger now that it's cold weather.  Is there anything that can help with his cigarette smell?  I would rather not just add artificial scents to my desk but gah!  It helps to turn on the fan and point it away from me but it's cold now!

How do you feel about commenting on or asking about unusual names when you meet someone for the first time? Do you think it's tacky? Or good conversation fodder? If you have an unusual name, does it bug you when people ask about it or do you roll with it? (Assuming you ask in a fairly neutral, non-douchey way, eg "That's not a name you see every day. Is there a reason your parents chose it?" or something similar. No stupid jokes.)

I have a boring-ass whitebread first name (as you can see lol) but my last name is a bit unusual and sometimes people ask about its origins/ethnicity. I also got a lot of stupid jokes in elementary school, but then again, who didn't?

Inspired by someone I met today at a writer's meeting.
