Generic sad breakup post

My boyfriend of two years and I broke up last night.

We live in Philadelphia. He received word from his internship company that they wanted to take him on full time in LA, starting in two weeks. He has one week to pack everything up and move on to his new life.

We've been long distance at various points through almost half of our relationship, but we always had an end date. He would like to relocate there for the foreseeable future and LA is probably the only city on earth I would never want to move to. We came to the decision that trying to end it now was the way to keep it clean and keep us as friends. But it feels awful. We both say we love each other and neither of us really want to break up.

It's especially heartbreaking because two weeks ago we were happy in our relationship and this was unthinkable. I imagined myself spending the rest of my life with him and I can't believe it's over. I don't even have the time to process it.

We've discussed ground rules and we are still allowed to say that we love each other and talk constantly, etc, etc. which makes me wonder what the point of breaking up even is.

Now the question... Have you ever had a break up when you were both still madly in love with the other person? Or would you try to make it work, when realistically the situation is grim?

Tldr; boyfriend finds out he has one week to permanently move across the country and we break up.

Say you're traveling and you lose a button off your shirt. You have foolishly neglected to bring a sewing kit, and you need to reattach that button. How do you put the button back on?

Inspired by a friend who had this happen.

mall ratz

My company is hosting a convention this coming weekend near the Mall of America. A group of coworkers and I have decided to visit the mall one monring when we have some free time.

Four or five of us are going and we're all friends. What do you think is the best way to do this? Everyone do their own thing? Walk around as a group and all go to a store if one person wants to? Breaking off if someone wants to go to a store and the others don't?

I really want to do some shopping and I don't want anyone to feel like I am keeping anyone else from doing what they want to do.

I'm looking to buy a pair of cowboy boots for my birthday. Does anyone know of a good store in Ontario to purchase some boots? Or a canadian boot website that's fairly inexpensive?

Dk/dc: do you buy yourself birthday gifts? If yes, what was the last gift you got yourself or want to get yourself? If no, why not?

UK mens to womens clothing sizes?

I want to buy some Simpsons and Super Heroes mens underwear in our local Penneys (what Primark's called in Ireland)

However since it's underwear I won't be able to try it on in the fitting room

The mens sizes are 8, 10, etc but I can't find clothing converters online for this sizing system, they're all 28"=womens size 10, etc but the underwear tags have no indication what the sizes are in inches

Anyone have any idea?

Do you believe in soul mates?

If not, do you have some type of believe similar to soul mates?

Have you ever encountered a couple that made you think 'that is what it would look like if they did exist'?

DK/DC: What was the last thing you took a picture of?

What TV shows are you going to be watching this year? What new ones are you going to check out?

The only ongoing show I have this year is The Big Bang Theory. I'm wanting to check out The Affair, and see if I like Penny Dreadful enough to catch up on it. :b

I could use some recommendations, if you have any!

Other shows I've liked are Dexter, True Detective, The Killing, Black Books, Arrested Development, Friends and The Secret Circle. It's a very... random conglomeration of genres/styles.

Would appreciate recs! :D :D

Dick Butkus

What is a name you would never name your kid (real or imaginary kid) and why?

What is the actual very unfortunate name of someone you've met?

I knew a kid in school called Peter Butts.
