TQC, is this normal for an apartment complex?
I'm apartment hunting and I found a Craiglist ad that sounds good. The complex has a name, but they don't have a website or any online presence. The surrounding area is pretty nice (I Googlemap/imaged it), but when I called the number on the ad, they told me that they don't take pictures of the units and I have to set up a time to see it in person. They answered my question about if the units are upgraded (she said they were upgraded 10 years ago), the floor it was on, but they don't even have a floor plan layout image to send me. The apartment is located near a college, so I asked her if the general tenant population is college kids or __? And she quickly said "I can't tell you, due to privacy." She also said they don't allow move-ins on Sunday, and they only allow it until 5pm on Saturday. Is that normal?
The complex is 30 minutes out of my way currently, and I have a busy schedule. Does this seem fishy? Would you bother checking it out?
I was supposed to receive a call at 3:45pm for a job interview. It is now a couple minutes after 4pm. How long should I sit around and do nothing waiting for them to call before I E-mail the recruiter? How long should I wait before I go do something productive (dishes, namely)?
I do have the recruiter's E-mail address, but she's not the one interviewing me. I don't have a phone number for the people who are interviewing me.
They called me at 4:10pm and I just got off the phone with them. They had a meeting that ran long and they were extremely apologetic. I think it went well, so fingers crossed! :D
DK/DC What's a recent food that you've recently become obsessed with? Mine is jalapenos, and I just recently discovered the wonders of pepperoni and jalapeno pizza.
My boyfriend isn't visiting this weekend, I finished all my assignments for the week, I have no money, and all my friends are busy/out of town.
What shall I do with myself, TQC?
Do you enjoy secret-telling games? (truth or dare, never have I ever, etc)
When was the last time you played one?
I played truth or dare last night with a bunch of randoms at the college bar. Strange, kinda fun, kinda loser-ish lol :)
In Minecraft, why do villagers have large noses and craft golems for their villages?
What's your best/favorite "my dad is stronger than you dad" story? You can replace dad with another family member if you'd like. General bad-assery.
Sooo, my PS3 has died. Red screen of death, tried the home fixes but they don't work anymore. My options are to have it fixed (which may cost almost as much as a new one), buy a new one or buy a PS4. I was all set to buy the PS4 until I found out that you can't play PS3 games on it. I don't have a huge amount of PS3 games, but having to pay twice for the same thing is annoying.
As of now, there's nothing that omg I have to play on PS4, but there probably will be eventually. The question is: if you were in my position, what would you do?
1. Fix PS3
2. Buy new PS3
3. Buy new PS4
4. Other
One of my biggest pointless pet peeves is the $X.99/$X.95 method of pricing. Out of curiosity, do you automatically round up in your head (i.e., $9.99 is automatically translated to $10) or are you more subject to influence?
Can anyone offer advice on how to be "healthy" during crazy times? I work 45 hours a week, 6 days per week. I get off work around 5:30 pm and then my husband and I commute about 45 min to go to law school. We get out of school at around 9:30 and come home at 10 pm.
We get no dinner break at school, so we've been eating when we get home. Stay up until 1 am or so and get up around 7-8 am. Repeat this day after day.
Needless to say, this sedentary lifestyle has caused us to put on weight. I miss exercising. The weekends I work and we have 200-400 pages of reading to do per week, not to mention mind numbing assignments.
Any tips for fitting in exercise? Being healthier?
Should I get a cat? I am kind of lonely and have considered pet ownership many times. I've grown up with dogs (and cats in my elementary school years.) I recently went through a breakup where my ex took his dog with him, obviously. I don't necessarily miss that dog, but I miss having an animal friend around.
Pros:
-I have plenty of room for a cat.
-I am financially secure.
-I have plenty of friends/potential caregivers if I go away for the weekend.
-I have a vet in the area I can trust.
Cons:
-I have not ever owned a cat on my own.
-I work. The cat would be alone for 8 hours a day 5x a week.
-I live in a city and the cat wouldn't be able to go outside. (It would have to exist in 1200 sq. feet.)
I don't require a kitten- an adult cat would be ideal. However, someone told me that I should get 2 bonded cats if they would be alone for points in the day. Ideas?
