The Question Club
What initiated the last state of emergency in your area? How did people respond to it? |
Brought to you by a chemical leak into the major river in my area. Everyone has been warned since yesterday evening to not drink the water, cook with it, or bathe in it. It is not fit for animal or human consumption & boiling it will not help. The only things we can do is flush the toilets & put out fires. The Health Department has ordered every business with a health permit to cease operations in the affected counties.
The response? Oh my, it's like the Apocalypse out there. People are coming to blows at the grocery store over water. Shelves are completely wiped out of the stuff. It's absolutely insane. People are complaining about going into work. One guy I work with (at union company) commented on a union post that he used a vacation day & will be filing a grievance to get it refunded.
My husband's and my response? Oh well, we have some bottled water that will keep the animals hydrated. We will just drink soda and wine! Yay! We can still use the bathroom & are very grateful we planned a vacation day in advance (going to a wedding). If we didn't have the day planned, we would have went into work. But wow!
