If someone is stopped for DUI & has a child in the car with them, do you think child endangerment (or some equivalent) should be added to the charges?

ETA: do you think this attitude has shifted over the years?

To anyone who's fostered dogs - what were your general experiences like?  How many dogs have you fostered?  What sort of support did your organization give you?  Any foster dogs who became permanent dogs?

I'm considering it (I've worked with a cat rescue for a while), but I'm not sure how feasible it is with a small house, a young and hyperactive dog, and two cats.

The family we were making a hamper for (just finished it last night except the toys!) phoned today to tell us they had to "skip town for a few months so you can just keep the stuff". That "stuff" just cost us $300 last night! Needless to say my family is not touching this idea again for a long time. We're going to donate the food to a different organization and forget about it for the rest of the year! We've already decided that next year we're donating to an animal rescue.

*ETA: We're going to donate it to an elderly couple in the same organization.

I know the food will still go to people in need so is it dumb to feel annoyed?
I just feel like I invested so much into getting this to work. :(

What plans have you made recently that have fallen through? What happened?

What's the last non-food thing you made?

I'm looking for book (novels, short stories, not textbooks) recommendations for a 60ish year old ESL student in her second year. Most of the texts I find seem to be geared towards a much younger audience. Any ideas? Thanks!
