Should I get Taco Bell or Jack-In-The-Box for my late night snack run (I'd likely get tacos from the former and a breakfast sandwich from the latter)?

Where would you go and what would you get? Other options are also Carl's Junior, Burger King, and Wendy's.

So, do most people use cruise control on longer drives? I've never used it. Should I? Seems scary. I can't really even figure out how to set it.

I'm going on a 9-hour drive soon though, was thinking I might ask you guys to teach me...

Do you now own or have you ever owned a tablet?  What all did you use it for?  If you know about these kinds of things do you think this is an ok one for the price?  I mainly want to use it for reading and to browsing the web while I'm in bed.

Questions for Canadians: TV shows

I'm writing a story that's set in the present-day US but has a Canadian aspect to it. For plot Reasons, I need to refer to two TV shows airing during the first half of 2013 in Canada:

- a current affairs show or documentary series that might devote all or part of an episode to a high-profile Canadian serial killer case
- a reality show about helping the RCMP solve crimes, giving details of the murders (and showing surveillance footage / re-enactments) and encouraging people to call in if they have info.

Thing is, googling isn't telling me if there are any such shows currently being broadcast in Canada. Wikipedia pointed me to the CBC's The Fifth Estate for current affairs, but I get the impression it's maybe too classy to cover an unsolved serial killer case for a whole hour? And for the crime show, nothing's standing out for me on this list:

So, any Canadians in this comm: can you help me out, please? I can make shows up if I have to, but I'd rather use real ones if they exist. Or if there's somewhere else I should ask, let me know.

Oh Facebook

I know we always have questions about FB and something similar has been asked but meh, I'll ask anyway.

What is your response to viral e-mails and mass sharing of information (usually political) that is patently false?

It drives me insane (on all sides of the political spectrum).  I've had to inform my liberal hippie-type friends that companies like pepsi are not, in fact, owned by monsanto (even if they use monsanto produced ingredients or are otherwise unhealthy or problem companies) and others that the new healthcare law doesn't give the government direct access to your bank account.  The response to unbiased facts is anything from "well, I'm still against *whatever* and so its ok to post it anyway" to "any information to the contrary is a lie and must come from opponent's side".

Since these are f-listers, I usually just try to focus on the false information they provided rather than on the underlying sentiments for/against something.  It is hard for me to just leave it up there for more people to read and share without correcting it.

How often does this happen to you and what do you do?

What is your favorite genre of music?

(Edit: This is for a survey. If you put a subgenre, it will be put down as the genre it came from, etc. Ex. indie rock counts as rock.)
Dream your troubles away

So, I shall be in Chicago next weekend. All on my lonesome, with very little in the way of plans. I'm of drinking age (and enjoy drinking). I like antiques, books, loud music. I'd love for it to be proven that are queer ladies in Chicago.

What are some things that would be fun? Social things would be excellent, but if you know of a neat shop or two I'm hardly one to pass that up! I just want a plethora of options on my free-range wanderings.

Mike Tyson

TQC, help me work out whether I've discovered a clash of cultures on this question...

I find it completely shocking that Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist, is suddenly appearing in movies and on sitcoms and in crime dramas, particularly when playing himself as some kind of friendly cuddly teddybear, or playing a character on a show about sex crimes.

I've asked four friends what they thought about this, and so far it's a US/UK split - the two Americans said they found it distasteful but weren't shocked or appalled by it. The Brits were very much shocked and appalled. One pointed out that a couple of actors had to be written out of major roles in a soap opera here recently, as they're being charged with serious sexual offenses. They sure as shit won't be back on TV if they're convicted.

So, what is your opinion, and what part of the world do you come from?

Do you lend things to neighbors and/or friends?

What do you do when they constantly "forget" to return the things they borrow?

Any suggestions for dealing with a neighbor who never returns things, knows they're horrible with returning things and still constantly asks to borrow stuff no matter how many times you say no?

Background check.

Where can I get a legitimate background check online?

If one comes back clean is it assumable that they all will?

I ask because I KNOW I have an arrest and am iffy about charges, I was given the option of doing volunteer hours instead of being convicted but never really understood what that meant as far as what gets slapped on my record.

6 years ago I was arrested on assault charges, if it makes a difference.

I updated my background check recently with my married name vs my maiden and it came back completely arrest charges or anything.

Odd much? Im curious because we are in limbo for getting a townhouse and Im now wondering what they are going to see on my background check, I mentioned on the application that I had an arrest and charge for assault.

TQC, how can I get involved with the local Jewish community? My family are (were) Jewish but my grandparents died a while ago and my aunt/uncles are elsewhere and I have no contact with them. My dad gave up on religion before I was born and my mum started practising Christianity years ago. It bugs me that I have no connection with my heritage or anybody who reflects my beliefs anymore.
