I'm going to build a permanent bookcase covering an entire wall. I plan to put up thin oak veneer plywood over the existing wall, then butt several floor-to-ceiling pieces of 3/4" plywood against it, with shelves supported between them.
My question is, how to anchor the vertical pieces into the wall and/or ceiling? The anchors won't bear any weight unless the whole thing tries to tip over. The catch is that I want the anchors to be completely concealed.
I was thinking I could glue hardwood dowels into the studs. Is that stupid?
Dear TQC, Very miserable. Been with boyfriend for a year, his parents are conservative Muslims. I recently met the mother - I thought it all went well. He hasn't told his father about me. The mother just bitched him out about being with me - I'm nonreligious, as is he, saying that I've turned him to shit, convinced him to get a PhD instead of MD, made him atheist, etc; - none of which is true. I'm really upset and sad. Any suggestions or advice?
Do any of you have specific food/non-alcoholic drink addictions or obsessions?
For example I feel the need to eat yellow mustard every single day. I prefer it by itself on a spoon but will frequently mix it into rice or potatoes or have on cucumbers or carrots. Sometimes I get acid reflux from it but don't stop eating it.
Can eating 1-6 (sometimes more) tablespoons of mustard a day hurt me?
You call a friend for whatever reason. The friend replies by email or text and says she's sick. She'll contact you when she's better. What do you usually do? Nothing - end of conversation. Or do you acknowledge and include something like 'Feel better soon'?
