What are your favorite mystery, thriller or horror books, any and all subgenres? Something you would describe as interesting, exciting or compelling. Light and fluffy or heavier. I'm trying a genre shift after years of classics, historical fiction, fantasy and romance. Nothing really works for me and bores me to tears. I find myself abandoning most of the books I start and I thought maybe I need something new. I tried Lee Child, his prose killed me with how clipped it was. John Grisham's The Firm was boring and I didn't care. Stieg Larsson also wasn't really my cuppa in written form. I can't pick my books, maybe someone else can.

What do people think of Dean Koontz, btw? (I read he donated money to Mott Romney's campaign?... I'm willing to put that aside if his books don't show political leanings)

Do you like staying up really late? How late and what do you like doing to pass those hours?

Also who are some mainstream music artists you actually find really talented, prove they are better then the rest and that there is actual talent out there in the mainstream?

For me Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga (the third album proves she actually has talent/creativity and she's not only a flashy gimmick) are the best of the very mainstream. Their voices and the way the music sounds are actually really good and their videos are not just consisting of generic stuff. They are somewhat creative.

Is wearing an alcohol themed t-shirt really that bad?

My boyfriend went to pick his brother up from school yesterday (who is 7) wearing a t-shirt with the Jack Daniels logo on it. A man, who was there with his wife, started to talk about how innaporprioate this was, that he was careless, irresponsible and a disgrace. He said that no child needs to see such a thing, and that he is the reason why kids are drinking so young these days. He said it loud enough so that the entire group of parents could hear this (they were all waiting in the playground waiting for their kids) and also my boyfriend. My boyfriend told him that he's got way more 'offensive' t-shirts than that, and that he can wear what he wants, when he wants, and thankfully he managed to put him in his place. Thing is, you couldn't see all of the t-shirt anyway. Most of it was covered by a hoodie.

But still. It was an awkward situation that shouldn't have happened. My boyfriend told me that the man was also one of the 'holier-than-though' types, the sort that think they're on a higher plane than anyone else and that they're better than them.

Was the man right?

A fun little question my sleep-addled mind came up with at o-dark-thirty this morning:

Scenario: you wake up one morning in the body of your pet. Doesn't matter why or how - you just get to be Fido or Fluffy or Goldie for a day.

What do you do all day?

(I'd be a cat, so sleeping for hours and climbing a tree in three seconds flat is on the agenda.)

Do you write or highlight in the physical books that you own? What do you write or highlight? Do you do anything else to your books?

I have never written or highlighted in a real book. But since I've been reading books on my kindle, I love highlighting sentences or passages in ebooks. Now that I'm reading a real book for the first time in a while, I want to highlight the shit out of it, but so far I can't bring myself to do it. Is this odd? Should I just harden up and highlight?

My husband's 40th birthday is in August. He wants to go to Dallas for a week (to see his family), then to the Texas Gulf Coast for a week. Where along the coast should we stay?

If your estranged parents sent you money (check or cash), would you accept it?

huh?

I feel like I'm missing something. What causes vegetarians/vegans to get sick when eating meat if they haven't in a long time? I'm just confused because I've never gotten sick from eating something I've never had or haven't had in a long time... what happens to your body when you cut out meat and consume it again?

I e-filed my taxes on Turbotax.  They will not let me print a copy of my federal taxes without paying them 40 bucks.  I need the copy so I can do the tax table for my state taxes.  What should I do?

I'm looking for these two website that I know exist but I can't get google to find because I'm stupid.

The first one is a list of commercials and who the ad agency who did them is, who directed the commercial, edited it, etc. And the second one does the same thing but for movie trailers.

Does anyone know what I'm thinking of? And will someone kindly link me?
