It's 00:30. My boss just texted me asking if I can start work half an hour early tomorrow (so at 2:30 in the afternoon). I'm already putting in a (planned) extra half hour this week, and will definitely do at least 3 hours of overtime on Saturday, all unpaid and unthanked.

Needless to say, I don't want to work this extra half hour. Do I just ignore the text or come up with some excuse as to why I can't do it?

ETA: My job and the company I work for suck, they take way too many liberties and treat me like shit. I'm leaving soon too. I'm mostly annoyed at the medium and timing of the request.

Do you have any allergies which are more uncommon? Does anyone ever not believe you?

My boyfriend is allergic to many fruits, including avocado, cherries, apples, pears, etc. He told me when he was younger people would just be convinced that he was picky. Frequently it seems servers at restaurants don't believe him when he asks for something with no avocado, he receives it with avocado, and they try to just pick it off.

What is a fair price for a computer diagnostic test? Back story: a family friend is coming to look at my boyfriend's computer to see if it is salvageable after too much air in a can was applied to it.

Say your boss is giving you a chance to submit a wish list for new things you would like in your office/ work place. (I’m in charge of a computer lab). Of course I’m asking for new computers, but I do not know what else to ask for!

We have really good comfortable chairs, and desks. We even have a mini fridge.
1. So if you were in my place what would you ask for?
It could be little or big things from supplies to furniture.

2. Do you think it is okay to decorate an office for Easter or could that offend people who don’t celebrate it?

Is anyone else having an off week? My coworkers and I are all cranky and so are many of our clients but it may just be because our busy season is starting.

How has your week been so far?
I kill the bus driver.

I have a blog in which I write about villains & antiheroes in movies and books. Being that badass female villains are less accessible than male villains, I'm having a hard time finding more female villains to write about. Can you recommend any?

I'm looking for characters that are threatening figures and are likable as characters. The initial ones that I think of as personal favorites are O-ren Ishii (Kill Bill) and Beatrice/The Bride as an anti-hero. I liked 'Ma-ma' from Dredd, though her part was fairly anticlimactic. Hayley in Hard Candy. Annie Wilkes comes to mind as being intimidating and threatening, but she is less likable. :b

Food

Will you suggest something for me to put on my grocery list? The only limits I'll put on this is that I'm a vegetarian, so no meat, and no cilantro because I hate it.

I'm in a food rut.

What foods do you hate that other people seem to love? (Mine's cilantro, I just don't get it)

i just figured out what my ultimate goal in life is - the one thing i want to achieve by the time im 40/50. i want to open a crisis centre for women and children (in my teeny village-country), offering them both legal and counselling services.

what are some things i should consider re: this idea? do you or does anyone you know work in a place like this? my bf says i should look for work experience/opportunities in the states.

dk/dc: what is your ultimate life aspiration?

Assume you teach college students in some capacity (e.g., as a TA, lecturer, or professor). One of your current students adds you on Facebook. Would you accept his/her friend request?

TQC, I need your help.

What are some reasons for leaving a job that sound better than simply saying, "this job just really isn't a good fit for me"?

I've been working a job for a month, and I know I need to get out. I often ask myself what I'm doing there, and even my best friend said that it's not "me" at all. I feel that it's sucking the life out of me. This job isn't a retail or restaurant job. It's a full-time, salaried position, which makes me more concerned about code of conduct.

Do I just say the truth? I just know that the company will be pissed if I mention that I'm quitting just when they feel that they've trained me enough to be somewhat autonomous.

Help, please!
