what's something interesting I can look up on the internet to distract myself from what's on my mind? or, what's the last topic you got lost in online?
I was looking at crimes and unsolved disappearances and whatnot to get my mind off my ex and his new gf (facebook decided to glitch and temporarily unblock him and his friends from my feed today and I got sucked into all the pics that showed up because I am weak), but then all of a sudden I found myself feverishly researching my cousin's murder / her bf's upcoming trial and that is probably not what I need right now :\
I just got a new computer with windows 8 on it and I'm trying to get used to everything. I installed The Sims 3 and was able to run it a few times, but now whenever I open it (the launcher or the program directly) the program will not come up. I can see it running on the task manager as a background task but I can't figure out how to bring it up. I managed to do it once but I don't know what I did, lol. Can you help me? :(
EDIT: Problem solved! Can we turn this into a gif post?
So, for those of you going to see her and have already bought the tickets, what are the general prices for the section surrounding general admission floor being sold on ticketmaster? Charlotte's going on sale today at 10am but I will be at work and I know her shows are selling out FAST. Do you think it would be better to just go ahead and buy the hiked up prices on stubhub? The furthest section back is $120 on stubhub and thats a hefty amount for me already....but you see, I HAVE to go. Yep, I'm one of those. Obviously, the cheaper (with better seats) the better, but to have a ticket is the best.
I live in an apartment complex with on-site maintenance and everything. On Tuesday I called complaining about the smoke detector, which fell out from the ceiling and isn't working, and the washing machine being broken. They have yet to come and fix either thing, and I have been calling them about it multiple times a day since then.
They claim they will get to it and they work on emergencies first. Now, our heat isn't working. When I called the receptionist suggested that I reset the breaker myself and see if that fixes the problem, and that if not they'll get around to it whenever they come and fix the washer. Which ~might~ be today. Apparently a working smoke detector and heat is not under emergency maintenance priority.
On the laundry side of things, should I go to a laundromat and submit a bill to them since they haven't done shit to fix the washer? What should I do about the smoke detector and the heat? When I just got off the phone with her I reiterated that the smoke detector is, indeed, not working and she still said they'll get around to it whenever.
1. Do any of you regularly eat chia seeds? If you do, what do you put them in/on? I'm thinking of adding them to my daily diet, but I don't think I like the idea of putting them in liquids to drink if they're going to make them jelly-like or whatever so I'm considering other ways to consume them. I need them to not being a primary texture in my food or I just won't eat them.
2. If you gamble, what's your favorite way to do it? Poker? Blackjack? Craps? Roulette? Slot Machines? Do you hang out in the sports book?
3. If you had to pick a tv character to be your bff in real life (and they would act like their character on the show in real life), who would you pick?
Disclaimer: I apologise if I've got the terminology wrong or offensive, I'm not American.
During the 1940's, 1950's there was a black/African American big band singer who would was known for singing something like 'yadi yadi yadi ya' to which the rest of the band would sing back 'yadi ye di ye di ye'- if you've ever seen the The Notebook, I'm pretty sure that type of music is in the scene when James Marsden's character proposes at the night club. It was a distinct style of singing. I was told it was made famous by a black American singer but for the life of me, I can't remember who or what it's called.
TQC, What am I thinking of? Who sang that kind of music and what's the term for it called?
It's Cab Calloway, thanks noodledays. I've now happily listening to it continuously on youtube.
New question: What's been your latest musical discovery or re-discovery? Mine is (obviously) Cab Calloway.
I've gained weight in the last few years and I'm having a hard time figuring out what styles flatter me now. I'm going to a wedding soon and I want to look fantastic. TQC, will you take a look at a photo of me and help me choose a style of dress? Links would be especially awesome.
In case it's hard to tell from the photo, I'm short with big boobs, wide hips, and big thighs. ~.~ My waist is smallish, but my torso is short and my boobs tend to sort of hide my waistline.
Edit: Okay, I just bought this dress! What do you think? I'm nervous, but they have a good returns policy and several of the reviewers with a similar body type posted nice photos, so fingers crossed! If you still want to add suggestions that would be fine too, just in case it doesn't work out or I need something for another occasion!
