The Question Club
What do you think is an acceptable amount of noise from neighbors? At what point would you say something to them? Report to apartment managers?|
We have new upstairs neighbors and they are LOUD when they walk. It sounds like a freaking herd of elephants. I'm aware that this is part of having a downstairs apartment, but I heard the previous upstairs neighbors maybe once a month for the whole year they lived there, so this sudden noise level is really frustrating. If it was just during the day that would be one thing, but it's all night, till like 4 a.m. They stomp across the apartment, open and close the door really loudly, stomp down the stairs, and then repeat in reverse a few minutes later. Like five times a night.
I asked them last week if they could try to be more quiet because it's really loud in our apartment and just kind of got an "Oh." I'm wondering if I should take it to management, but idk if they would do anything. The neighbors obviously have the right to come and go at whatever hour they please, but it wakes my kid up multiple times and I really wish they'd be more aware of how freaking loud their footsteps/door are. What should I do?
