I am 23 & I use the contraceptive implant, since 2010. My partner is worried about his fertility and thus, it is in my mind too. My mother had trouble conceiving & had two miscarriages. My aunt could never conceive. My grandmother conceived once & was told to never try again for health reasons. This makes me think I will have fertility problems myself.
Can I go to my doctor and ask for/get fertility tests even though I have NOT been trying for a baby? Everything I've read online is about what happens when you've been trying for a year. I don't want children for another few years, but if there's going to be trouble, I'd rather know sooner rather than later so I can prepare myself.
Have you ever followed a movie's production for a very long time, only to be disappointed by it when it finally comes out?
I've been following Les Miserables since they first announced they were planning a movie (way back in 2009). It's finally hitting the theaters in December, and I'm anxious! That's a long time to wait for a movie only to have it suck.
I don't understand why people get upset when you reply to old things, like posts made a year ago. I personally love getting e-mail, even if it's about something old I wrote. If you get no e-mails half the time, it's nice to hear something that is an intelligent response rather than spam. Don't people like having their writing actually read instead of gathering a mountain of cyber dust? I understand that some entries are painful, but I try to avoid replying to those. So it baffles me why someone would get super upset and "yell" at me for replying to things that are relatively impersonal, like a poll, just because it's a year ago. What's more, some people will be silent about it for about a month before suddenly trying to bite your head off about it. It makes no sense to me. They say they were "just being nice" by pretending not to acknowledge the fact I was sending them messages. Can anyone explain what's going on here so I can avoid the situation in the future?
I have a skin emergency. My face hates winter and vice versa so I woke up this morning and pretty much my entire face is peeling. I also recently started using a new skincare product which may have contributed to this. It's affected my cheeks, chin, between my eyebrows and under my eyes. It looks bloody awful.
Are there any products you'd recommend for ultra, super fucking dry, flakey skin?
I have to go outside and have people look at me the next couple of days so I'd like to fix this as soon as possible. I don't wear much makeup but I have crappy skin so foundation is a must. But the thing is, with my skin peeling etc, it not only stings to apply makeup, but the foundation gets all under the flakey bits and makes it look so much worse.
I've been moisturising like a mofo all night (La mer and rosehip oil...I even slathered lip balm on my face cos I thought the lanolin would help moisturise my skin) but it's still really bad. A bit of dry skin wouldn't usually be such a big deal to me but it's so bad right now my entire face hurts and I just want it to stop.
my parents have a two-year-old cat but are considering adopting a kitten. i've been doing tons of research about the best ways to introduce them, but what i'd really like to hear at this point is success stories.
have any of you ever successfully brought a new pet into a home? how long did it take for them to get acquainted?
I'm going to be going on a camping weekend and I'm curious about a few things;
what types of things do you like to bring [food wise] when you go camping?
I'd like to make things ahead of time-so I'm looking for things that don't need to be re/heated. I'd like to make an egg dish but have no idea how long it would last before going bad. Ideally I would make it on the Friday and it would be eatten on the Saturday or Sunday morning. Kept in ziploc type bags and within an cooler, how long would you go before saying something made with eggs are no longer good? This is basically what I was looking at making; http://www.pillsbury.com/recipes/ham-and-egg-crescent-bake/c91fcb05-baca-44bd-9d43-a148f66d5f28
Also, can you give me super special awesome easy meals that require little to no cooking?
Have you ever been reading a book or similar and seen a name that you didn't quite know how to pronounce so you pronounce it however and then way later you find out how it is actually pronounced yet whenever you are reading it you continue to pronounce it how you had previously?
Does anyone have experience with StraighterLine's online courses? I'm not looking for transferable degree credits, but just an option to round out some gaps in my general knowledge (plus the tutoring service).
My mother and I will be going to Disneyland at the end of June to celebrate her end of cancer treatments, and my graduating college. We've been to Disneyworld more times that I can count (us being floridians), but we've never been to Disneyland. I'm excited to see some of the differences and attractions that they only have there. HOWEVER, I don't know any tips or tricks like I do for Disneyworld! What are some tips and tricks you guys have for us? Things we absolutely HAVE to see, and your favorite restaurant?
TQC, what's the most expensive thing you've ever lost?! Or the most important thing you've ever lost or broken?
I lost my Folk Fest tickets! I got them in December and paid almost $500 for two sets and now I can't find them! *whine* I wasn't planning on going anymore because I seriously doubt I could handle the heat and sleeping on the ground while I'm pregnant with twins but I wanted to sell them and make my money back!
TQC, tonight I'm supposed to go to a club meeting with my boyfriend, which we do every second Wednesday of the month. My dad was supposed to be going to the city to see his boyfriend. I was going to put my grandma (who has Alzheimers) to bed, and then go to the meeting. But she went to the ER today (she's fine, all her tests came back okay). She'll probably want to go to bed right after dinner since today was pretty exciting and tiring for her. Should I still go to the meeting if there's no one home to keep an eye on her? The meeting is pretty important and we'll be planning our annual event, part of which is my responsibility. Would you go?
Edit: never mind, my dad is going to stay home. Sucks for him, but yay for me, heh.
Which job would you take TQC? Job 1: An international company, in a position relevant to your interests, living at home rent free (for a while), in an area you don't like and don't know people. Good salary. Job 2: A difficult job you aren't particularly fussed about, would be paying rent but living independently, in an area you absolutely adore and where all the people you love are. Salary is slightly less than job 1 but has the opportunity for lots of commission.
ETA: Or do the Disney CRP for a year - crap pay and living with a room mate but an entirely new and fun experience.
My husband and I found 5 kittens in my mother in laws shed. The momma cat is a stray that lives around here and still comes around. We called the vet two weeks ago and described them and they say they are about 2 weeks old then. Now we're back at the house for a few days and we found them all again. The vet said that we could feed them cat food with water in it, so we did then and we did again today. Today they chowed down like it was the only meal they've had in a while
We are thinking we should bring them into the humane society now that they're a little bit older. My mother in law says we should leave them. The reason we want to bring them into the humane society is because most have goop in their eyes like they're infected (they've been in the shed, so they may have got some sort of chemical or something in them) and while the cat comes around, she's not in the best shape herself.
What should we do? Bring them in tomorrow? Or let them grow up a little bit longer and have momma cat take care of them?
None of us can take them at the moment (which stinks because they're all so cute) but we know that it's just not feasible for us right now.
I'm having a hard time motivating myself to workout, I lack it, but I wanna do it! Somedays I'll workout for ten minutes and then not wanna keep doing it. How can I motivate myself to keep fit? And, what kind of exercises could I do at home, since I don't have that much money for a gym membership?
