TQC,

What are you doing right now?  I'm watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow pt 2 right now.  It's the part where they go to Gringotts with Hermione polyjuiced to look like Bellatrix.  I love how HBC played that.

I need advice on giving advice.
My friend was just proposed to by boyfriend that she has been dating for 5 years. She's thinking of breaking off the engagement because they are having problems sexually. He lasts for a couple minutes at most or sometimes while they are in the middle of having sex he becomes flaccid. He has been this way for the last year or so.

I told her that if she loves him then they can work on it and get through it together. But she seems to be giving up. What else can I say to her?

How important is sex to you in a relationship?

Is it worth braking a relationship over?

What's the most people, overall, that you've ever shared an apartment or house with?

What's the most people, not including family members (unless it was truly a roommate type situation) that you've shared an apartment/house with?

Do you know of any communities (on LJ or elsewhere) where I could get constructive criticism/critique of my photography, or have any other pointers on where/how I could level up my photo skills?

a song idea?

I am making a video of daughter turning two. It's a compilation of many different pics of her travels across the globe meeting lots of family and friends. I can't think of a song to play in the background. The only two that come to mind are "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong and Aladdin soundtrack song, "whole new world" and i am not liking them too much. I like the first one but it goes a little too slow! Any ideas of what I could use?

We have a nice little front lawn. Nice grass, pretty flowers, the whole shebang.
Collapse )

Basically, some people have been letting their dogs piss on our flowers. In the corner, where our walkway meets the side walk, one of our plants is basically dead. The lawn reeks of dog piss, and there are some dead or dying patches closer to the sidewalk. Now, we have two dogs- two pugs- but we do NOT let them piss on the lawn. We have an entire back yard for that. If we take them for a walk, we let them do their business on the strip of grass between the road and the sidewalk- which is what we do in front of anyone's house.

My sister's boyfriend was out in the yard a couple days ago and a woman with her golden retriever walked by. She said something like "Oh my dog loves your grass. It's a shame you cut it." ...What the hell? Do the people in my neighborhood think it's alright to let their dogs roll around on strangers' lawns or something?

NOTE- It is not like there isn't a park or grass around here. There is a park literally down the street with lots of grass AND a brand new off-leash dog park there.

Anyway, it's getting freaking annoying that the plants and grass we buy and take care of are dying because some dog owners are idiots and can't use the strip of grass. My sister's boyfriend wants to sit in the window with a pellet gun and just shoot at the owners who let their dogs piss on our lawn- don't worry, we all veto'd that idea. I was thinking of making some little sign saying something like "Don't let your fucking dogs pee on our lawn" but, y'know, something nicer.

Do you think a sign would work? Any other ideas to keep people from letting their dog on our lawn?

TLDR: What would be a nice sign to make to let the fucking people who walk their dogs on my street know to keep their dogs off our lawn and not to let them pee there?

I was reading about some updates to Diablo 3 and at the end of the article there's a very spammy link to some site that offers tips on power leveling for only $37.

Midway through the near-endless ad there's some testimonial videos. This is a screencap, unaltered and simply the first I could capture:

In addition to the question they ask, what's some bad advertising you've come across?

What are your favorite "easy meals"?

Have you ever/someone you know gotten an endoscopy? Tell me about it.

I've been vomitting involuntarily after most meals for months. My first doctor didn't know what was wrong and told me to schedule a consultation with a gastroenterologist. I'm scared about it but I'm seriously so sick of feeling constantly shitty.

Every Father's Day we have this huge annual Brunch/BBQ at my house. It's pretty much our kick off to summer.
We just got some new beverage dispensers for it, what are some fun drinks to put into them?
I don't just want to do plain juice, and because it is Father's Day and therefore a Sunday morning, probably nothing with a lot of alcohol.
Last time I made cucumber lime juice with mint. I thought it was delicious but no one else seemed to.

Do you entertain much during the summer?

How do you pronounce the word 'sixth'? More like sicks-th or sick-th? Or something else?

I'm watching a doco about Edward VIII and George VI and the voiceover says the latter, and now I've noticed it I can't un-hear it. I pronounce it like the former.

I've got chills, they're multiplyin'

Ok TQC.. I've been experiencing this weird...phenomenon. I don't know.

Since Thursday evening-ish I've been getting these random chill-like feelings on the upper-outer part of my right thigh. It feels like goosebumps, but they're sort of patchy from the top of my knee all the way up to my hip. They feel raised like goosebumps, and in the few seconds before they appear it feels like I'm getting the chills. But they are only in that one spot (no where else on my body) and come randomly during the day but regularly. I don't know why they are coming and and I don't know what they are! My mom suggested hives of some sort but they don't really stick around and they go away after the "chill" has ended. It's at the point where it's unnerving and annoying and a little uncomfortable. I mean, if they haven't been happening on a regular basis for the past five days I'd totally say they were chills/goosebumps - that's how much the sensation/appearance mimics it. ABut surely it's not that, after so many days, right?
TQC, what is this? Is this like a pre-cursor to shingles? Do I have lyme disease? hormonal issues?

Your friend is getting married! Hurrah! They say they don't need anything, they just want money. You work part time and your husband has just started work.

Pardon my wording but; how little an amount of money [that you would be able to give them] would you deem too little an amount for a gift?

As in-perhaps you could only spare $20, is that too little an amount to put into a card? Is $50 too little? Where do you draw a line?

Even if they only wanted money, would you consider getting a nice gift because it would look nicer than a small amount in a card?
What do you get someone who says they only want money?

LJ and Timezones

TQC,

I put my timezone in my account preferances, but while looking on my friend's list everything is in UTC time. Does anyone else have a similar issue? Am I doing something wrong? It's annoying because I'm not sure if I'm commenting on an old post or not lol.

How should I get back in the habit of eating? I have been averaging one meal a day (usually dinner when I become so hungry I sort of binge) for the past few months. I can't seem to get in the habit of eating. If you've had this problem, did setting an alarm on your phone help? It's all I can think to do. I'm a grown up and can't exactly ask someone to remind me--they have better things to do I'm sure. But I can't imagine this is at all healthy now that it's dragged on for so long.

Have you ever lived alone? Did you like it or hate it?

I currently live in a one bedroom alone and I really hate it. :( I get lonely so often. Tonight's been pretty bad. And I've called some friends, but they're all busy. It also doesn't help that I work at a job where I'm basically alone all day. I literally wake up alone, work alone, then come home to an empty apartment. It sucks!

What do you do when you're lonely but can't find anyone to hang out with you?

Was there a really famous book written about/or by Benjamin Franklin that is studied by, or on reading lists for, US school students?

I had a dream that there was (involving his key and kite string experiment) and that it was an American classic. I don't know whether it was just a figment of my imagination or if the dream was based on something I'd read.

DK/DC: Have you ever had dreams like that, where you're not sure if something really exists or not? If so, how did it turn out?

Since when do cats eat graham crackers?

I'm sitting at my desk, reading my friends list and snacking on graham crackers. My cat got curious and jumped on the desk and starting sniffing at my graham cracker. I held it up to her so she could get a good sniff. She chomped on it! She chewed off a corner, swallowed, and kept coming back for more. She just kept chewing and nomming. I am amazed.

It was cinnamon flavored, in case that makes a difference.

TQC, help me find this movie!

(Note: I've also posted this to whatwasthatone, so apologies if you see this twice).
Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out the name of a movie that I saw a scene from once. I saw it in 2003, but I'm pretty sure the movie wasn't too recent- I'd say it was probably early 90's or 80's. I was in a drama class and we had to pick scenes from movies to reenact, and a group of guys picked this scene. I have a feeling that this movie/scene is probably pretty famous, but all the Googling I've done hasn't been able to help.
Anyway, the scene is set in medieval Europe (or another period of time similar to that). It takes place in a castle where there is a swordfight/duel over becoming king. One guy kills the current king, and then someone kills him, and so on and so forth until we're left with a guy who comes in at the end, with the bodies strewn across the floor. He's kind of weird/scrawny, and has a squeaky voice. He picks up his sword and says something like "They're all dead! Now I get to be king!" and then pokes one of the bodies with his sword saying "Ooh, it's squishy!" He continues with his monologue about how awesome it is to be king while periodically poking the bodies and saying "Ooh, squishy!" etc.
For the LONGEST time I thought this was from either History of the World Part One or Monty Python's Meaning of Life, but from the descriptions I've read/what I've seen from those movies, neither of them are it. But the movie had a similar vibe- like it was a parody of knights/medieval times. I'm trying to remember if the actors had British accents, but I'm not sure.
I also don't think this was from a TV show, because this was before the whole "TV shows on DVD" phenomenon, but it might have been from a Saturday Night Live thing or something like that. I distinctly remember the cover of the VHS, though: it was a collage of different cartoon faces/events. This is why I originally thought it was from History of the World Part One, because of the drawings on the cover for that movie. Hell, maybe it is History of the World Part One, and I just can't find reference to the scene I'm looking for.
It is NOT Monty Python and the Holy Grail- I've seen that movie several times, and while the wedding scene is similar, it's not what I'm looking for. The movie definitely DID have a Holy Grail vibe/aesthetic, though.
WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?

Edited to add that the movie was on VHS, not DVD.
