Settle an argument for me?

In an effort to be as objective as possible, I will pose this in a way that avoids addressing which side of the issue I am on.

Statement: "90% of men think having sex with their girlfriends while they are on their period is gross."

Agree or disagree?

What would be the WORST way to spend 3-4 hours? (Must spend the full amount of time doing this and nothing else)

Watching a terrible movie
Reading a terribly written book
Listening to music you hate

Stuck in horrible traffic, with NO distractions

Today I took my car to Midas for a simple oil change and when I went to pick it up, they told me there was $800 worth of important shit wrong with my car. Should I actually be worried about getting any of it fixed soon, or are they just trying to get me to spend money there?

ETA: They didn't seem too concerned when I told them I couldn't get any of the things they mentioned done today, just that they "recommended" it. The car is in no way undriveable in its current condition.

I have a renting question. Apologies for length.

I have been renting the place I live in for 6 months. Soon I will be signing a new contract for another 9 months, which would begin in September. I have a good relationship with my landlords, and they are allowing me to store my belongings rent free whilst I am away working for the summer etc.
I am considering moving in with my boyfriend, and if I did so the move would be shortly after the new contract begins. It is dependent on him getting a job in the area, which is only a 50-50 shot. If not, I would remain in this rental for the full term. The option of him finding out whether or not he can get a job here before I sign the contract is not possible, he currently has a locum position until October.

My question is, do I inform my landlord of the situation before I sign the contract and ask their position, or wait until I know whether or not I would even want to move out and then bring it up, obviously giving them atleast one month's notice. If they absolutely refused option B I would remain here of course.

Also possibly relevant: they aren't reliant on my rent to survive or anything. They both have full-time jobs, and two other tenants. Also, I am in the UK. I pay rent monthly.

Sorry if this is a stupid/obvious question, but I haven't been in this situation before and want to check the correct etiqutte/not piss anyone off!

Rain poll

I live in Los Angeles, where it seems most people cannot drive in the rain. They slow down to absurd speeds. Maybe this is how most people behave when the prospect of rain is on the horizen. How do you drive when drops fall on your windshield?

It could be pouring and I'll still be flooring it. Eff Mother Nature. No one tells me how to drive
If it's a normal rainfall, I may hold back to 10 miles under the speed limit. In heavy rains, even more
Slow down to 30-40 miles an hour if I see raindrops
You reckless cretins! I slow down to 20mph, regardless if it's highway or surface streets, if I see rain
If the streets even look wet, I drop speed to under 40. Whether it's rainfall or leaky fire hydrant or a spilled Big Gulp. You can never be too careful
If I even see a cloud in the sky, I cut my speed. With one drop, I have my wipers on maximum speed and I slow down to under 20mph
I don't drive at all when it rains. AT ALL. It's too scary
I don't drive so this question is N/A

It's raining outside. Nothing severe. You have to walk 2 blocks. How do you deal with the elements?

Umbrella, jacket
Jacket only. I walk briskly
I use a newspaper to cover my head. It seems I'm always unprepared for rain

My roomate rudely woke me up because she was "drunk" and it took me like an hour to get back to sleep. She apologized this morning and I usually say something like "It's ok," when people do inconsiderate things to me but its not ok. So I walked away in silence because I didn't know how to reply, what is a good way to?

Have you ever gone gluten-free? Can you tell me about your experience?

My doctor wants me to try it for three weeks and I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed right now trying to figure out what I can actually still eat. My diet isn't the greatest anyway so this is going to be a huge transition, and I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on food. Does anyone know of any resources for someone just starting out?

4 days ago I woke up with a sore throat from (assumed) sinus drainage due to allergies. A couple days of high liquid intake and a weather change cleared it all up and my sinuses/nose are fine, yay! But today I am experiencing a weird cough. It's kind of wheezy, not productive at all, and I feel like I need to keep clearing my throat. What do?

dk/dc: I have part of a research project due at midnight that I have yet to start on. Can you think of a really good threat to scare me into working on it?

Freezing Apple Slices

I'd like to pack apple slices in a lunch tomorrow. I don't have a cooler, ice pack, or fridge, and I'll probably be eating them about 5-6 hours after they are packed. I'm worried that they will be mushy and warm, so I thought about freezing them tonight. Does that make any sense? I don't know anything about freezing apples. Will they be better or worse by freezing them the night before?

TQC, I want to make half-assed margaritas tonight using tequila, sugar and lime juice. I have a few fresh limes, and I'd like to use them for something else (or more margaritas later in the weekend). How do I go about keeping them from drying up once I've cut them open? I've got plastic baggies if that'll help things.

Who are some of the worst popular actors/actresses out there, in your opinion? Bonus points if it might be a controversial one.

For the sake of interest, let's just already act as if it's a given that the Twilight cast counts, and name others.

I need some music recommendations.

I noticed when I come home from work exhausted ONLY a handful of songs get picked from my IPhone to get listen to. I tend to skip a lot of songs I have. I like the rhythm, the beat, the loudness, the singing, and most of the lyrics of my list below. I'm so tired on my way home from work I like louder music...

so will you recommend songs based off this list?

Anything with a long, or slow intro gets passed by.

I do enjoy other languages.

Like Korean, the songs from Boys Over Flowers Because I'm Stupid, and Stand By Me gets played.

I have Japanese songs on my Iphone as well, though they don't always get played.
Braeakups are the new relationships

Relationship advice, woo-hoo.

I've been seeing A. off and on since September (off when he moved to Louisville for a few months, but he came back and it was on like donkey kong). He is 26 and I'm 23( in a month) and about to graduate from university. I didn't want to get too serious because I thought I'd get out of Chicago while he'd stay. Then I was rejected out of my future and looks like I'd stay in Chicago for awhile (dammit).

He has sent me flowers for valentine's day, he's met my some of my friends,  he HOLDS MY HAND IN PUBLIC, and pays for everything. Yet he claims we're in a gray area.

AM I BEING FRIEND ZONED? What should I do about it? Can I do anything about

DK/DC/Relationship advice really: what is your favorite color? Favorite word?

The class (>400 students) average of the first test is 79. The average of the second test is 62. Which of these would you conclude?

The professor wrote the first test to be unreasonably easy.
The professor wrote the second test to be unreasonably difficult.
Both tests are fine.
Students prepared adequately for the first test.
Students did not prepare adequately for the second test.
Students prepared for both tests adequately.

Well she was an American girl...

This might sound like an obvious question but...

For Americans, what do you define as a 'truck'? I'm reading an American novel at the moment which keeps referring to trucks, but I gather they're not talking about semi-trailers or something that looks like this- I think they're referring to a ute type vehicle but I'm not sure. What would you conceptualise a truck as being?

Pics would help.

dk/dc/tldr: In Australia (and probably other parts of the world), Americans are often referred to as "Yanks" or "The Yanks" (never a Yankee). Is this a slur or offensive? Would you you be insulted if somebody called you a "Yank"?

I prepared a lasagna earlier, put it in the fridge cuz I didn't have time to cook it. Now that the whole thing has been in there for hours.. should I adjust the cooking time? The cheese would have been cold originally of course but now the sauce and the pan and pasta is cold too.

I usually have to cook things for the minimum time and 25 degrees cooler to prevent them from burning in my lousy apartment oven.

Edit: It came out fine I guess. It's not that great though. Nothing to do with it being cold probably.

Car Talk

I'm going to buy a new car soon, and I'm pretty sure that it will be a Prius. But before I decide, I'm looking for input from TQC because you have all the answers.

Those of you who own a Prius, are you glad you bought it? What are the positive and negative things you think that I should know about owning a Prius before I decide? Do you think your next vehicle will also be a Prius?

Those of you who have bought a new car recently and decided not to buy a Prius, what made you decide against getting one? What kind of car did you get instead? Do you like it? Do you think I should check out a car like yours before I decide?

DKDC - Do you prefer swimming at a beach with fresh water, at a beach with salt water or in a swimming pool?
