In my quest for sleep, the internet has thrown up some odd things and that got me thinking. Has anyone tried any form of polyphasic sleep schedual such as Uberman, Everyman or Dymaxion? If so, what was your experience of it?
Has anyone tried a biphasic sleeping pattern?
Would you try a different sleeping pattern to monophasic sleep?
If you are presented with a set of facts with two contradictory conclusions, with one conclusion drawn by military and intelligence officials and the other conclusion drawn by politicians and the media, which conclusion are you more apt to believe? Why?
lately i've been really missing my pottery class from high school. my teacher just let me make whatever i wanted and as long as i was using all the time, she did not care. but back on subject.... as i said, i'm really missing that. making sculptures of strange oddities and whatever my mind can think of.
is there any way one could do this from home? not specifically ceramics, anything really. just something i can sculpt and have it be... permanent? i guess. and yes, i know of sculpey... but that is not my favorite. or if you could point me in the direction of websites, forums, anything really. i apologize if this is worded horribly, or if it does not make sense at all.
For those that have been to Chick-Fil-A, is it a policy of theirs to just give away free food? This is the second time I've been there where they just decide to give me my food when my card suddenly decides to stop working.
Has anyone ever packed champagne in their checked baggage on a plane? I'm going to Florida to get married in 7 days (yay Disney wedding!) and I'd love to bring a bottle of really good champagne that was left over from my bridal shower, but I'm worried that it will explode under the plane. The wire thingy on the top is intact. It would be inside a ziplock freezer bag wrapped in bubble wrap/a towel.
Also, should I pack my wedding dress in my checked baggage as well, bring it on the plane as a carry on, or have my friends drive it down to Florida? There is no coat closet on the plane, so if I bring it as a carry on, it will be in a garment bag in the overhead bin. It's not a huge gown, just a knee-length bridesmaid's dress in ivory chiffon.
EDIT: Thanks for all the suggestions!! Gave the champagne to my friend so she and her mom can drive it down. Going to bring the dress in a carry on bag and then just hang it in the bathroom and turn on the shower to steam it when we get to Disney, since I can't afford to have it steamed/don't think I'll have the time.
For those of you with individual cell phone plans (plus data I presume) who is your service provider? Are you happy with the service and the cost of the service?
I'm thinking of jumping ship with Verizon once I get out of this family plan I'm currently in and going with T-Mobile, but I'm having a hard time getting a good estimate for the actual monthly cost (w/ a 2 yr contract) after taxes and fees are added in. I know the price they list is before all of that added cost.
Anybody got any feedback for T-Mobile or suggested alternatives? I'm trying to keep the cost down as low as possible without having "no" service.
So J.K. Rowling has a new book for grown ups coming out in September called 'The Casual Vacancy'. So TQC are you going to reserve a copy or wait in line to buy one? I will put the plot behind a spoiler tag just in case someone is interested.
[Plot] When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.
Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.
Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.
And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?
Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.
edit: thanks to your help, my computer now looks amazing. I apparently needed to put it NOT on the maximum resolution? When I moved it down to 1600 x something it suddenly smoothed out. I have no clue why. but it looks fantastic.
so a coupla weeks ago you guys helped me out when I was shopping for a PC. it is here! it is glorious! except!!
the resolution looks horrible. all the text is pixelated and shadowy. I'm on the max resolution allowed by the computer and everything looks like I zoomed in too much. I got a 27" monitor because that's the size my iMac was...but...this looks like poop.
I'm moving out of the country in September, possibly forever but for a year at least. Unfortunately, my phone is not ~*global ready*~ and must stay in the States. I have a year left on my contract. What should I do with my damn phone?
edit: thanks everyone. I found out that someone on my plan never upgraded their phone and was willing to transfer the upgrade to me, so I'm switching my phone out for one I can use. PROBLEM SOLVED.
I have an external HD which I primarily use as an HD for my blu-ray player. I've just noticed that some images I deleted a while ago are showing up when I plug the HD into the BD player in the lounge, but they aren't present on the BD player in my room, nor can I find them while searching the HD through my computer.
What the fuck? How can I delete these pics? They're NSFW, I don't want my family seeing them by mistake. I'd rather not delete everything off the external HD cos it's like hundreds of GB worth of stuff.
ETA: Nevermind, I think I've sorted it out. Will you tell me some of your favourite things that aren't usually asked? Like, your favourite Shakespeare play, or perfume, or flavour of noodles, or shape of easter chocolate etc
I like Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth, beef flavoured noodles, and chocolate bunnies.
My bf works as a cashier and on several different occasions he's heard women refer to or speak to their daughters as "Sissy." I've never heard this before. Have you? Why would mothers do this? (My bf guesses it is so that others believe they are not mothers but older sisters of their daughters.)
dk/dc/i hate sissies: What's your favorite off-brand snack food? Aldi has fake Nutella that's pretty good. They also carries a snack brand called Clancy's that makes delicious baked chips!
