TQC, I'm craving another pet, considering i'm watching way too much Animal Planet. I can't get another dog until the summer, and I seriously plan on that, but until then, what small animal can I get to keep me company? I already have a hamster, but i'm in the mood for something new.
A bird? A fish? Am I simply animal obsessed?
If you could have one animal, wild or domesticated, what would it be?
Guys, I think I've got a UTI, or I have one on the way. It sucks, and I'm really uncomfortable. Since it's nearly 3 AM there's not a lot I can do about it right now. Do you have any tips for me so that I stop being miserable long enough to get at least some sleep tonight?
DK/DC: Do you have any travel plans for the foreseeable future? To where?
I'm going home for R&R in 2 weeks. I haven't been home since Aug and my wife has nothing but "honey-do's" planned for me. How much is this trip gonna suck and would I be better off just staying in Afghanistan and working??
Do you ever get random bouts of nausea or anything that last for a bit (less than an hour) and then go away?
My stomach had been uncomfortable and then all of a sudden I felt very nauseous and got hot/sweaty. I really felt like I was going to throw up everywhere, and appendicitis came to mind and I got very concerned (but I'm very paranoid about these things). My hot feeling went away just now, after about 20-30 minutes of feeling bad. My stomach still feels a little off, but it's not like it was.
1. When you were a little kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? 2. What are you/do you want to be now? 3. What made you want to pursue the career path from question 2? 4. What is the most interesting job you've had so far?
Thank you kindly for all the Chicago recommendations and the like! My friend and I talked it over, and we're actually going to duck out on a class or two and extend it a few days. That means we're ditching Chicago for - wait for it - New York!
So, I need a bit more help.
Dear New Yorkers, or those familiar with the city:
1. What should we do or see? We're up for almost anything, from shopping to museums and everything in-between.
2. Any hotel recommendations? We don't plan to be there very much - mainly, we just need somewhere safe to keep our clothes, laptops, etc. Money's not a problem, but ritzy hotels would be wasted on us, since we don't plan to be there much. Any hotels we should absolutely avoid?
3. Any food/restaurant recs? We're especially keen to find a good sushi bar or two, but would appreciate any recs, be they fine dining or awesome little greasy spoons.
4. Any club/bar recs? Finding something to do Saturday night that we can both agree on shall be difficult indeed.
We think we'll be getting there Saturday (2/13) afternoon and leaving Wednesday afternoon (2/17) (dates not set in stone).
so i just bought something offline but it doesn't say when it will arrive (it was a power button hinge cover for my laptop (the plastic piece that has the power button) if it matters)... it's going from NY to NC and it says shipping is regular us-mainland. whatever that means. i bought it off google and it had free shipping
OK, so I am very short and my legs are disproportionally short (I am 5'4" and have a 28" inseam, though I usually buy 29"). I'm also very non-boyish in shape--waist is 10" smaller than hips, thighs are not slim (rather muscular). I have a hard time finding clothes to fit, especially jeans. I've tried "curvy fit" at ON and Gap and they don't fit--too tight in the thighs, too low in the back rise.
I'm looking for jeans that: aren't super skinny or loose (I'd prefer just straight leg but would settle for boot cut), mid-rise (not trampy low but not mom jeans), that will actually fit me in the waist. I want black but I would settle for dark indigo. Plain fabric without cross hatching, distressing, pretend worn-out butt, big rips etc. Just plain jeans. That fit. I don't need stretch but it's not a deal breaker as long as the fabric doesn't have cross hatching.
Also I'm not wealthy so I can't be spending $100 per pair or something.
Do you know of jeans that come close to what I'm describing?
Do you avoid anything because you know if you didn't avoid it you would get obsessed or addicted?
Seeing a commercial for the Sims World 3 made me think of this. It looks so fun but I think if I bought it I'd probably have no life. Same reason I don't buy anymore video games and new game consoles. I would lose so much money and cease to exist until I defeated everything once or twice or more.
Separate question: Have you seen The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus? Or do you think you will? I'm seeing it tonight. =3
if you have one, how can you tell if your cat is happy? how can you tell if your cat is sad? (i don't mean in general - i'd really like to hear about your kitties)
i've just domesticated a stray and i've only spent a few days with her so i can't really tell if she's happy or sad apart from her purring and squeezing her eyes shut when i pet her. she's really friendly and sociable though.
Yesterday I posted about a woman going beserk in a KC McD because her burger wasn't right. Today I find this:
TOLEDO, OHIO -- An East Toledo woman became so enraged that chicken nuggets were not available at a Toledo McDonald's that she punched through the drive-thru window. Police say Melodi Dushane, 24, stopped at the fast-food restaurant at Front and Main Streets in East Toledo early Friday morning and asked for chicken nuggets. When the drive-thru attendant told her the restaurant was only serving breakfast and that the item was not available, Dushane reached through the window and punched the attendant in the mouth.
After a night manager came to the window, Dushane began swinging her fists at her. The manager attempted to pull Dushane through the window by her hair. After being released, Dushane then punched through the drive-thru's glass window.
In court on Saturday, Dushane pleaded not guilty to a felony vandalism charge. A judge has ordered that Dushane not visit the 90 Main St. McDonald's location again.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH McD's THAT MAKES PEOPLE WANT TO FIGHT???
I looked for one, but all of the jquery lj comms are either in Russian, or haven't been updated forever. Does anyone know of a good one where I can get in depth help?
If not, can anyone here help me with a problem I'm having? I'm a complete newb when it comes to this.
I've got jcarousel and it sorta works. The back and next buttons work okay, but once I slide to the second set, it won't go back to the first set without a refresh of the page. It also shows the second set out to the side, but hides the first set once I've hit the next button.
If you don't give a fuck, what're you watching right now? Doctor Who, End of Time Part One
Do you live in a place that has earthquakes regularly? Oh yes.
Have you ever experienced an earthquake? Often!
What's the largest quake you've been in? There was one in '92 that was a 7 or something, but I don't remember it really well. I do remember going under the kitchen table and lots of things falling down (I was about 7 years old).
I ask this as my county recovers from the quake that hit us yesterday and shook a lot of nerves. It felt surprisingly big but fortunately didn't leave a lot of damage (or injury) in its wake.
What do you think is the difference between Latino and Hispanic? If you consider yourself to be Latino but not Hispanic or vice versa, why? ETA: I forgot to add. Do you find either of these terms to be offensive and if so, why?
You're lying on the beach, enjoying the sun. You hear some birds playing in the water and you can see they're boobies. You then hear the sound of a motor approaching. You look up and see an angry man in a motorboat on a course to run down the birds. Oh no!
Is anyone here a teacher? I am considering applying as a teacher's assistant to get some experience in the classroom and decide if it's something I would be interested in doing as a career. Technically because I can become a teacher through lateral entry with my degree I am supposed to be qualified in some way to teach already, but it really doesn't feel that way.
What's the farthest you've ever driven on a regular basis (like at least once a week) to see your past or present SO? How well did that work out?
Does anyone subscribe to Glamour? If so, have you already received your magazine this month? I noticed the new issue at Target, but I've not received my copy in the mail yet. Usually I've received it by now.
Have you ever had appendicitis? Will you tell me about it?
I'm kind of (okay, extremely) paranoid that I have it even though it's been ~14 hours since my stomach first started bothering me and I'm still not in bad pain. Reassure me that I'm going to live, TQC.
Also: If you're in college, when did/do you go back? I go back the 20th.
Okay, so I met this girl through a community on lj, we exchanged IMs, and then we exchanged phone numbers (she gave me hers, I would've felt bad if I didn't give mine), and she texts me a lot and honestly, it's kind of annoying. She said she had a dream with me in it and I was a little creeped out. I told her I didn't have unlimited texting, but she still texts a lot. How should I go about getting her to leave me alone? Sorry if this sounds bitchy.
If you dk/dc, what is something you really want but can't seem to find?
I graduated successfully, work less then a year, have already been promoted and life has never been so pointless – nothing to hold a grip on myself for, nothing to look forward, when in fact I should feel free.
All I can do is try to find an interest in skiing, knitting or whatever.
Do you remember life before cell phones were common? I wonder how people ever managed to find each other in crowded places or knew what to get for dinner when they were in wandering around clueless in the grocery store.
This is probably a really stupid question. I have to teach a book to a seventh grade class. There are two pages that relate children with disabilities playing in the water to sex. How do I make this as non-awkward as possible for all parties involved?
I'll take serious and non-serious, but would prefer serious. haha
Ok i took the picture out because I don't want it up any longer and I've had all the answers i need:) thanks for the honestly and criticism! For those who saw my picture and have any suggestions on how i should change the way i look, just let me know. Also, I was 15 in the picture, so yes i look young lol.
TQC, my Domino's Pizza Tracker said that my pizza has been delivered and that I should be enjoying my pizza right now. Except not really. TQC, where is my pizza???
Oh, nevermind. Just like going to the bathroom at a restaurant, it works to complain about it, I guess.
What are your favorite toppings on a pizza?
For those of you who roller skate (four wheels) and ice skate (one blade), which one do you prefer? Do you find them different? I roller skate on a pro level and can't ice skate to save my life. I think it's because the floor is what propels you in ice skating, not the skate.
