Okay people. My friend is on a mission for an obscure latin user-title. If you speak latin, could you please give us the correct form of "Ipse arbitratus homo desinum" (which is his version of "I intend to destroy that man.")?

We would be most grateful.

I feed a stray cat that lives under my house, before I leave in the morning for work, then again after I get home. Lately, there has been little black ants in the water. I'm not talking about a couple, I mean 20 or 30 or more, every single time I retrieve the dish. I have no idea where they are coming from, but I would really like to get rid of them. How would I be able to do so without harming the stray cat? I'm not able to afford anything expensive, so please keep that in mind when offering your suggestions. Thanks!

ok, so the other day someone (and this person is a really good cook as i eat her food all the time and this is the only complaint i've ever had) attempted to make my favourite dish...gizzard in a brown flour gravy w/a little onion and bellpepper w/tomato sauce...they were thrilled...everyone who had sampled it said it tasted great...i came in the kitchen to look at it and thought, it looked so gross - the flour was in lumps and instead of dissolving in the water and tomato sauce and the meat just looked bad...my first reaction was "ohmigawd! what happened?" of course, not tactful...but still...it DID look gross...i did taste it and thought i would gag...the cook's remark to my reaction? "well, i'm never making that again!" i appeased her by saying i had a headache and didn't feel good...
so, my questions are you is:

when someone attempted to make your favourite dish and it turned out badly/really bad - what was the dish? what was your reaction? have you ever ruined a dish you were making for someone else? what was it? what was their reaction? you consider yourself a good cook? what's your favourite dish to make?

Secret Shopping! [May. 23rd, 2006|10:22 am]
The Question Club

thequestionclub

[pridian]
I heard an ad on the radio this morning saying that they were looking for secret shoppers.

Have any of you actually been a secret shopper? How much did you average a month? $400-$600 a month?

Did you pay a "small" fee to get training on how to be a secret shopper? How much was it? Did you stick with it long enough for it to be worthwhile? Did you have any problems getting reimbursed (I'm assuming you first pay out of your own pocket for the experience and then when you show the receipt with everything you bought on that shop, they pay you back)?

I'd like to do it, but not if it actually ends up with me losing money.

I was looking online for what the cost of the "small" fee was and I found this on one site: For a low one time fee of nineteen ninety five... It kind of bothers me that they wrote it in letters when they used numbers in other places and they wrote it like it would cost $19.95 versus $1,995. Well at least I'm assuming it's $1,995 because it wouldn't make much sense for the company to have you only pay $19.95 and you get paid $10-40 per shop and you get to keep what you buy for free.
However if it's worth it, I think I might be willing to.

Why is it that a lot of men on MySpace who are married don't say in their profile that they are married and instead opt for the "in a relationship" disclaimer? I find that curious.

If a friend posts a picture of themselves and you have the opinion that they look terrible in the picture, does the fact that people comment on how good they look mean those people see something you don't? Or do you think they are just being "nice"?

So, I was at the local high school recently, brother's graduation and all that.
The guidance counselor posts newspaper articles about students on the window from his office to the hallway, to screen him a bit and give people walking by something to read. This time, there was an article about my brother because he got a scholarship(and I guess this year fewer local people got it, because there's about 10 inches of article and a largish picture instead of a bunch of short blurbs). There were a few about students who'd taken trips to foreign countries to study or do charity work. Someone got into college on a track scholarship, that was there too.

One of the articles was about this girl I was sortof friends with, a little snobby, must've rubbed off of her popular-girl sister. The article is about her staying happy and hopeful and still being nice to people and not hiding in a shell or anything- I expected the article to say she'd recently found out she had cancer or something- but instead it's that her mother is about to go on trial for killing her father. The article goes on to say -how- she allegedly killed him and I think when the court date is, and that she(girl) thinks her mom is innocent.

Now, is it just me, or did the guidance counselor not 100% think this one through before posting it?

My English teacher asked us this today:

There are two doors. One goes to Heaven and one goes to Hell. Neither of the doors are identified as being Heaven or Hell.

There is a guard standing in front of each door. The two guards are identical in every way, except that one always lies and one always tells the truth. You don't know which one lies or which one tells the truth.

If you wanted to walk into the door of Heaven and had one question to ask either of the guards, what would it be?

So I have to read a book for my honors English 10 class over the summer, and do a dialectical journal on it.

I have four books to choose from.

A Separate Peace by John Knowles - a story of two friends at boarding school during World War II--one of the most starkly moving parables ever written about the dark forces that brood over the tortured world of adolescence-.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou- Angelou's autobiography of her childhood in Arkansas.

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers- Seventeen-year-old Richie Perry, just out of his Harlem high school, enlists in the Army in the summer of 1967 and spends a devastating year on active duty in Vietnam

And then The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, but I read this already, it was amazing, but I want to read something new.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I remember as a small child going to a chinzy Paul Bunyan themepark, and the thing I remember most was a little...glass booth thing with chickens and maybe other small animals. You put in a quarter and some food would drop and they would go for it, which made it seem as if they were doing a "trick" (walking a tightrope etc) I remember them being real live chickens, which I am honesting hoping wasn't the case. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? What would something like that be called?
