Awhile ago I got linked to this strange strange art page. It was a woman who had just given birth, and the baby was crouched on her chest looking like an evil frog. It looked like a photomanipulation but was actually a plexiglass statue. It was really weird and graphically gross, but urm, do you know who the artist is or have a link to the art?

1)Have you filed your taxes yet?

2)Do you know how much money you are getting back? Or do you owe money?

3)Are you going to do anything fun with it? (not just spend it on bills, i mean)

Me!

1) Yes!
2) somewhere in the $1400 range!! my highest ever!
3) i'm going to buy a couch because i'm moving into a new apartment and have to furnish it all myself.

p.s. Do people in other countries have to file their taxes like the u.s. does?

i wanna get a new phone...

I want a new cell phone. That said, I keep it in my front pocket--not on a clip, or my belt. That's the big thing-- I want a reliable cell phone that doesn't have one of those lil' antennas sticking up.

Currently I have a "candy bar style" Nokia 3120-- this one:

and Cingular service. EDIT: And I need something that gets good reception. this phone is crap.I'm just looking for opinions on different phones. What would y'all recommend?

(gist: a guy is filing a lawsuit that says that he shouldn't have to pay child support for his daughter with his ex because he clearly stated he never wanted kids and his ex said she was physically incapable of getting pregnant, but she did. he says that since she had the option to have or not have the child, that he should have the option for whether or not to pay child support)

Are you ever too old to do something? I ask because I really want to take dance classes; any dance class will do. Most people did dance classes when they were younger but my family didn't have the money. Now that I'm 18, have money of my own and am attempting to become a more active person, I would love to do dance, but don't want to make an ass of myself. Any awesome personal experiences to share?

Taxes

This is the first year I have ever owed taxes instead of getting a refund. I don't remember details about how I filled out my W-4, unfortunately... But, basically, the government didn't take out as much money from my checks as it should have. In the past they always took out too much. The only difference is in the past, I was always going from job to job and had several W-2's to account for around tax time. This year, I've worked at just one job full time for the entire tax year.

So the question is, what could I have filled out on my W-4 when I started this job that would cause that? Claimed an exemption? Not claimed one that most people claim? This confuses me every time it comes up.

Hair dye

Why can't you keep any left over mixture?

I've had an open bottle sitting on my bathroom counter since last time I dyed my hair a month ago, and it looks perfectly fine. It seems like a waste to throw away half the bottle everytime I dye my hair.

This is going to sound strange, but, I was wondering something. Do any of you know of any quotes about not liking the summer? Know anyone that has said that? Know of how or where I could find them? (Yes, I'm trying google, but all I'm finding are quotes about people that like summer.)

Any and all help would be appreciated!

Recently one of the fans in my computer started making noise when activated. I assume the bearing may be going out. However, the noise has stopped as of this week and a very bad burnt-something smell is wafting insidiously out of my tower. When I popped it open, all three fans were running fine and I can't locate the source of the smell except for maybe the dust.

Is it okay to vacuum out my computer tower?
Do you think this is a good solution or should I buy a new fan [presuming I can figure out which one is the problem]. Er, any advice in general?

I am hysterically, hyperventally afraid of wasps. Just thinking about them freaks me out somewhat. But I only know two other people with actual phobias, nevermind extreme ones like mine. Surely I'm not alone? What are all you lot afraid of?

Gardening

What is the best kind of fertilizer for Tradescantia zebrina? I tried to look this up for my grandmother and only found that she should use a liquid fertilizer and it should be 150 ppm. If anyone has any tips or useful info, we'd really appreciate it.

Yes, I already tried google and wiki.

Thanks!

Does anyone know how T-mobile customer service works?

Like say i call customer service about my accout and they waive a fee for me, the next time i call what information will appear to the customer service person? Do they take notes that other reps can read? And would all the accounts i have (i have 3 phones) be visible if i were to only tell them one of the numbers?.. like would they have to go out of their way to see that i have more accounts?

I asked the other day about my boyfriend being requested to buy coffee for an old female acquaintance he met up with. Apparently she likes to window shop and my boyfriend thought it'd be nice to browse the local markets with her next week. He doesn't want to buy her stuff though, if she asks. If she does ask for him to buy her stuff, how can he politely decline? Bearing in mind she is madly in lurve with him and he doesn't want to hurt her feelings at all. He doesn't want to reuse his previous response: "NOOOO get yer own coffee!"

VPL

I was watching TLC's special "What not to underwear" and it got me thinking. Does it really matter to you if you have VPL (visible panty line)?
I forgot to add, Why does it or doesn't it bother you?

I'm hoping that someone here is/was a medical student at one point, or knows someone who was. ;o) I'm no longer anywhere near a University, or else I'd just bust into the career center and ask there.

I'm thinking about going into opthamology. I finished my undergrad in May (bachelor's in psychology) without any idea of what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Now I'm thinking maybe I want to do opthamology. :o) But the problem is, I don't know where to start. The American Board of Opthamology and Wikipedia say that the education requires a bachelor's (done), 4-5 years of medical school and 3-4 years of specialized training. My question is, what do they mean by 4-5 years of medical school? Is it a general medical degree or a specialized opthamology medical degree? Can I choose any medical school, or does it have to be one that offers a particular degree?

Anyone have any information that might help me on my quest for information of what exactly I need to do to maybe become an opthamologist? :o)

It's sad - I know what one does, but not how I could become one.

Knitting?

I probably could post this to knitting, but I don't feel like joining a new comm for one question.

I'm going abroad in a couple of weeks, and I need some non-TV watching activities to keep me occupied, so I'm trying to take up knitting again. I've got a big box of yarn that I haven't used so I'm trying to figure out some stuff I can do with it.

I've got:

Two skeins of fine yellow baby wool, gauge about 5 st=1" in stockinette on size 5 needles

about one skein of rough spun blue wool, I think worsted weight, gauge about 4 st=1" st st on size 11 needles

about one skein of very fine shimmery black wool, gauge about 7 st=1" st st on size 5 needles

some assorted white chenille yarn and heavy purple worsted weight, enough for decoration and things

And if possible I'd rather not use DPNs, since I hate them. I don't own circular needles but I can get them and I'm not morally opposed to them.

Any ideas, TQCers?
