has anyone ever participated in a semester at sea program?
anything you can tell of it? good, bad, worth it? i'm currently a social sciences major and plan on getting into creative writing/journalism even later yet. i don't want it to be like a vacation cruise--i really want to get something substantial out of it while traveling to such amazing and enriching locations. but i don't know if that ideal view will come to fruition. did you enjoy the experience?
How many of you trust your spouses -- I mean, truly and sincerely, the sort of trust that has been through everything and has experience and belief -- even with all of those touchy issues (long time away from home, porn, friends of the opposite sex, ex-spouses, &c)?
1. I finally saw Lost in Translation last night, so.. What did Bob whisper to Charlotte at the end? (Not looking for a factual answer - I'm curious what you think he said, what you think he should have said, or just a joke.)
2. A few months ago I heard The Flaming Lips' "Do You Realize?" for the first time, and sort of chuckled at the line, "Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die?" and I thought, "Well, duh." But then I thought about it, and holy shit - everyone in my life is going to die at some point, whether I experience it or not, the living beings that have played the greatest roles in shaping my life will cease to exist. It is an intense, thoughtful statement. So are there any lyrics (or quotes, or anything) like that for you, that you thought were trite or silly at first, but once you gave them some thought, realized they were kind of profound?
3. Do you brush your teeth in the shower? Any particular reason for it, or just what you've always done?
4. What time is sleeping in for you?
5. Are there any movies you saw and loved as a kid, but don't want to ruin by seeing them through the eyes of an adult?
6. What are you doing this weekend? Anything special?
7. What job/career (preferably one that actually exists) would you do/continue doing even if it didn't pay you (assuming money was somehow otherwise taken care of)? Is it the job you have now, or do you think you'll ever have it?
8. What TV channel gets most of your time, and what are you watching?
9. Have you started saving for retirement yet? And I do mean specifically for retirement, not "Do you have savings?"
I have a Nintendo DS in very good condition that I just don't play anymore. I'm thinking of selling it on eBay with three of its games. (The games are the Sims 2 , Mario Kart, and Super Mario 64, if that matters.) If I just put it as "Buy Now" and not as an auction, what's the most I should sell it for?
Every now and then, and I don't know why, I get a tiny, tiny little pale bump somewhere on my tongue that feels and looks like a swollen taste bud and is quite sensitive. Is that what it is? What causes this?
I was just reading a post asking if you liked slurpee's, and that reminded me of something that I'm rather baffled about.
When I went to New York last year, I couldn't find iced drinks anywhere (which drove me nuts, because I love them). It just didn't really compute with my brain that New York, a fairly hot place, wouldn't have slurpee's. As a Canadian I find that really confusing. Up here, you can't go into a gas station without running into a slurpee machine, and we have about eight months or more of frigid weather (not counting this Year-Of-Abnormality).
On every Sunday night after the bookstore I work at closes, a couple coworkers and I head off to the gas station on our break for what's been dubbed as our "slurpee run", often in sub zero weather (we keep saying we should change it into a hot chocolate run, but somehow that never goes through). We'll grab our slurpees and walk back to the store, often with our hands nearly freezing to the cups, for another couple hours of work. I wouldn't say this is the norm up here, but it seems like we Canadians (in the cold climate) have slurpee's, while some Americans (in a warmer climate) don't.
So my questions are:
1. Where do you live? (And I mean a little more specific than "the US".)
10 days before valentine's day - i have stellar timing...
*the situation let's say you've been dating someone for a relatively brief period of time (where the definition of "brief" here is about two months). you really like them and feel that over time you would come to love them, and after a particularly heinous past relationship, a caring, considerate, honest and kind person is looking pretty good. there's just one problem: at the ripe old age of 21, this person has decided that they a) like things the way they are with the two of you and doesn't really want to develop a closer relationship and b) doesn't really want marriage or kids.
being a little older and having thought about these things, you have decided that you want both a) and b), and although it is indeed very early in the dating process to be talking about wanting those things, you don't want to get burned and waste your time like you did with the last person.
1) did you really know what you wanted out of life in the romance/family department when you were that age?
(i have alot of friends in long-term relationships telling me "whatever, my boyfriend said that when we started dating too, and it obviously turned out quite differently")
2) what would you do in this situation? EDIT: about the relationship, not valentine's day so much. ;)
keeping in mind that i'm a girl, but i welcome answers from both genders of course! thanks in advance for your thoughts. :)
if you were in a class with really fun people but you couldn't be your true self, you had to be just like a side of yourself in order to really have some fun and get along really well-would you do it?
in my acting class, I can't be my regular self with all my normal interests and reactions, I have to be my 'acting self' which is me but it's not the version of me that I enjoy being the most.. the one that I am when relaxed, it's the one where I am when around other actor types. I don't mind it as a whole, but it's just not the best representation of myself and I 've been trying my damnest to be over the last years.
edit: after really experiencing acting again and really losing myself in it, i don't mind that self.
however, since i freaked out my scene partner and the rest of the class with this situation- were doing a meisner exercise(you repeat what the other says in order to get relaxed) and me and this chick were playing lovers in the exercise..so i completely ignore those boundaries set up and she says 'i desire you' i say 'i desire you' then its like almost time to go and i figure..this isn't going anywhere and we are running out of time and i feel a little competitive..so i say 'i want to fuck you' and that totally screws up everything..because i went over the line..so it was pretty extreme reaction from everyone so now i got that over my head. also, she selected me as her scene partner for a big scholarship acting contest, but i had something prepared mentally for our scene before coming to class that day and unbeknownst to me, were gonna start working on our scene so i was all out of it and did a bad job and she decided to go with someone else - so now the question is- how do i repair and get to know her?
Sometimes I wonder. There have been so many times when I was kind to others, and then they turned around and really stuck it to me. I had done absolutely nothing unkind to them and they turned around and spread rumors about me, had stolen things from me and other horrific things.
I was told that most people hate those who are kind to them because they expect to be treated like shit.
For those of you who have belly button rings: How old were you when you got it? Do people treat you differently because of it? Did you experience a lot of pain, infections, or other things of that nature? What was your overall experience with the procedure? If I get one now, will I be able to go swimming come June? Does losing/gaining weight affect how it looks?
For those of you who are attracted to women: Do you find belly button rings to be attractive? Does it affect your opinion of the woman once you discover than she has one?
Basically, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get one, and I've heard mixed results. Some people think it lowers people's opinions of the person who has one, others say it doesn't. Some say it was one of the most excruciating things they've ever had done, but most people say it was hardly noticable, just annoying. Some say they had to change the kind of pants they wore and couldn't go swimming because it irritated the area, others not so much. I'm just interested in your experiences and opinions.
I'm probably gonna ignore all advice, but I want to hear opinions anyways.
I know what kind of guy I'm attracted to in theory (big football player types...or other athletic boys), but I always tend to go for the opposite type (tall skinny geeks that crack me up). I've done it again (well, it's just a crush right now). When I'm with him I can't stop smiling and I love being around him and flirting with him. But when I daydream about him (I admit, I do it.) I can't picture myself dating him and kissing him and stuff...
Should I even bother if I'm questioning it? I mean, we're still at the stage where we only hang out in groups and do small talk, so I don't know him that well at all, and I might not even like him at all, but...well yeah. Should I bother?
And if you had to describe the weather outside as an emotion, what would it be? It's extremely pissed off here. I'm scared that the winds gonna blow over a tree and it's gonna crash through the windows of my house.
I'm going to be purchasing a plane ticket (Richmond, VA to Houston, TX) for a friend to come down for a wedding that's in April. I've never purchased a plane ticket or picked anyone up from an airport. Suggestions?
On an entirely different topic- where do you keep your vibrator, if you have one?
2. Do you use a tumbler (cup) to help you rinse your mouth?
3. I'm considering using my ex's toothbrush. He only used it like 2 times when he came to visit me and forgot to bring his own. I don't want to just throw it away, and I'll never remember to give it to him when I see him. Do you think I should use it?
For all those in the states... What liberal arts colleges have strong psychology programs? But I was wondering about schools that are more..liberal than others? Such as Hampshire, swarthmore, etc..So liberal colleges but with good psych programs. Thanks!
There was a tv miniseries in the states in the 70s or 80s. I think it was based on a book. It took place in the past (I think), perhaps 1800s, and I think took place in Australia. There was something about a priest in the plot. He had an affair with someone? or something like that?
If anyone could help me figure it out, I'd be most greatful. Also, I could have the ideas all jumbled around from different mini series or books, so feel free to take a stab at it, even if the one you are naming doesn't take place in the past or Australia, or wasn't based on a book, or doesn't involve a priest, or anything. As long as you think it *might* be the one I'm thinking of.
So, anyone care to help me figure out what on earth I'm thinking of?
My parents gave me a block of heart-shaped Post It Notes today, and they also gave me 4 gel pens (silver, gold, metallic fuschia, and pink). I also have some different-colored Sharpies. I'm wanting to do something in my dorm bedroom so it doesn't look so bare on the walls.
What should I do? Should I put the notes on the wall? Should I write something on them? I'm pretty much open to anything... I'm that bored!!
EDIT: What's everyone's favorite quote? I'll write the ones I like on my Post It Notes!!
Aside from your actual rent, how much do you spend a month to actually LIVE (utilities, groceries, cable/internet, etc) - NOT including other bills such as car, insurance, etc?
How much do you leave yourself for spending money and to save every month? Also, what state do you live in and how many people do you live with?
We're going to be moving out and I'm just trying to figure out a budget.
(To answer my own question if people have opinions on whether I can or can't afford it - the rent is $900 a month and includes heat and hot water. We have a big savings account. After our other bills (car, credit card debt, cell phone, etc), between the two of us, we will have about $400-$700 a month (in a few month, it will be closer to $700 but for the first few months, it will be maybe a little under $400). The $400 a month doesn't include prescriptions, spending money, utilities, food, etc.) (edit: the $400-$700 a month left would be AFTER paying rent as well. it would be $400-700 to spend on electricity, food, internet, life and savings.)
1. ok so what are some of your favorite late 90s early 2000s POP love songs. or any pop songs for that matter. cheesy or not cheesy. (lol)

1. Have you ever donated blood? 2. Have you ever donated bone marrow? 3. Would you consider being an organ donor? Why or why not? 4. Would you consider donating your body to a medical school for educational purposes? Why or why not?
a. Yes. b. No. c. Only as an ingredient in something else. d. I adore them and eat them all the time. e. The tree is a beautiful shade tree, and the wood planes down nicely for small carvings, but the fruit definitely leaves something to be desired. f. I have never had them - even as an ingredient in something else.
Results so far: a. 19 b. 2 c. 6 d. 5 e. 1 f. 1 other: 1 (They don't taste of anything.)
Okay, so I want to order a 100% cotton t-shirt online.
According to the size chart... for a medium, the waist should be 27-28 and the chest should be 32-34. For a large, the waist should be 30-32 and the chest should be 36-38.
The bottom of the chart says that 80% of women fit into a medium.
Well, my chest is 36 and my waist is 28. And I was thinking, I wear a 34C - I'm not that abnormally large. I wear it snapped on the smallest of the 3 hooks and it fits very comfortably, and I fill out C cups nicely. So I googled for how to measure your bra size and it doesn't make any sense to me!
Around my ribcage I measure 32 inches (I'm little but I've got a singer's chest)... so when you add the 5 inches to get the band size, it's a 37 so it would round up to a 38. My breasts measure 36 inches and change. That sounds absolutely ridiculous because there's no such size as a negative cup size... and my boobs are not proportionally small. (check it out if you don't believe me, lol. No worries, I'm fully clothed in that pic)
So my questions: What size bra am I supposed to be wearing (or how would I go about finding this out), and what size shirt should I order?
Also, any reasons for the favouritism/dislike of your chosen Spice Girl?
Like: I liked Sporty because she didn't annoy the crap out of me like the others, and I like her solo music the best. Though I do have a certain fondness for Emma Bunton (in her ex-SG form).
Dislike: It's a tie between Victoria Adams/Beckham and Geri Halliwell in the dislike stakes, but Victoria wins out because I find her so... ridiculous (plus, her 'Posh' image rubs me up the wrong way).
I waver on my feelings for Scary Spice. Her 'crazy' image intimidated and annoyed me when I was little, but after seeing some interviews and her MTV Cribs appearance, I really liked her humour and honesty.
I've been wanting to make some new meshed objects for Sims 2, but to do that I need a 3d modelling program. What I have right now is Milkshape 3d, and it's rather un-user-friendly. Is it about the easiest to use, or is there a better one with at least a free trial?
