What is your idea of a "big" Christmas gift? I always hear people talking about buying their kids, significant other, or whoever gifts and they'll say something like "Well, I got their BIG gift but I still haven't finished with everything else yet". |
In your opinion, what price range would constitute a BIG GIFT? When you were a child, what kinds of gifts did your parents (or uhh, Santa) buy you?
My parents never really bought me a "big gift". I got a lot of little things - books, CDs, pajamas, clothes, etc. My brothers usually got a big gift because there was always something they'd want - like Nintendo, or xbox or an iPod, etc.
My fiancé has always gotten BIG gifts - he's an only child but I don't know if that's relevent or not. He is 25 and his parents still spend a huge amount of money on him. In recent years, he's received a laptop, an iPod, a Nintendo DS. This year, I just found out his mom bought him Sirius radio (or XM radio?I don't even know the difference), the Calvin and Hobbes box set (which is $100something), a $150 coat, a portable DVD player - and then the "little things".
What are your opinions on this? If you intend to have children, how to plan on treating the holidays?
