Ok, I am supposed to write a paper about how Death of a Salesman is appropriate for the 20th century but not the 19th or 21st... While I agree with the 19th century part, I don't have any idea why it would not be thematically appropriate for the 21st century. I really don't think my lit teacher is looking for a paper about the fact that there are very few salesmen in Willy Lomans sense today.
One of the new girls smells bad. Not just a little. A lot. It's nauseating.
I don't think she showers regularly. Her hair always looks greasy. I work at a place where professional appearance is important, and we are personally dealing with customers pretty closely. When I have to work with this girl, and I go out of my way to avoid her.
I know her 10 month old probably takes up most of her time, but it's not an excuse to ignore normal hygiene.
I can't tell her. My position is above her, but I'm not her boss. She's too nice and I hate hate hate causing drama. There are only 8 people where I work, and I'm afraid if I say something to somebody else, it'll get back that I'm easily offended or something. The assistant manager smells sorta bad on some days, but it's tolerable. Him telling her about it would be too ironic.
My question: What should I do? Should I just keep quiet and hope somebody else tells her? What if they don't? It's been almost a week and a half since she's started working.
I'm doing nanowrimo, and I took a dare to have a character swear in a different language every time. Well, the character is going to be appearing very soon, and I'm going to need a LOT of different languages. So, anyone care to provide me with a list of 'how to swear in other languages'?
Does anyone know where to get a COMPLETELY free Vehicle History Report online? I can only find places that will tell you the make of your car when given your VIN number. Other than that, you get nothing without paying.
Do you use any exercise DVDs? Now that winter is coming and it gets dark at 4:30, I can't go running after work and I don't have the motivation to go running BEFORE work. I do have a gym membership, but it's expiring soon and I don't go often enough to renew it. I DO go running on my lunch break, but probably only for 20 minutes, so I'd prefer something I can also do in the evening. Do you have any DVD suggestions? I want something that's fun but won't kill me. I've looked at Carmen Electra's StripTease (or whatever it's called) but I'd like personal opinions if anyone has any.
Also, I'd prefer something that is uh, more fast-paced than yoga or anything like that.
1. Does anyone else think that "Napoleon Dynamite" sucked.? Seriously I didn't laugh once. 2. What do you call 'it' when a word (or more commonly, a last name) has a capital letter, lower case, then another capital letter [for example: McCracken] ? 3. Do you drool in your sleep?
It's been quite a while since I've posted in here!
Anyways, here's my question.
I got a monroe done a while ago and I want to change the stud because it's longer and irritating my gums. I have a new stud and everything, but I can't get the ball on the current one unscrewed. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this off?
I'm studying abroad in Spain next semester. Health Services at my school and kind of the CDC website suggests that it might be a good idea to get the Hepatitis A vaccine, but say that I am at low risk as long as I drink bottled water and don't get ice in my drinks. I'm really hoping to study abroad in Mexico in the fall also, and I'm sure it'd be a really good idea to get it for there.
Should I just suck it up and get the first shot before going to Spain and get the second one before Mexico or should I not bother because Mexico isn't a sure thing? I have a tiny aversion to shots, but where it's a matter of real health, I'll do it.
This game is so much fun... but could someone translate the directions for us? I know from the site that the two first ones are practise and start... and then the next panel is 'some fruits change when you hit them and here's how they go'... but what are the powerups on the next screen? (I'm pretty sure it's korean)
Can harmonica be played as an accompaniment to a piano piece? One that leans more toward the classical and less toward jazz, blues, etc. If not, is there any other instrument it could accompany that would fit such criteria? Thanks in advance~
If you stop shaving your legs, does the hair eventually get lighter? Most of the time I'm usually lazy and only shave the bottom half of my calves, and it looks like that hair is a lot darker than the hair on the upper half of my calves and my thighs.
1. What's a good way to get blood stains out of clothes? I know that it's best to pre-treat them but I don't always have the ability to do that so what cleanser would work the best?
2. What upcoming movies are you really looking forward to? And on the flip side what movies look like crap to you? My answers: I think Brokeback Mountain and V for Vendetta look really good. And I think Underworld 2 looks like crap. Which isn't saying much since I thought the first one was horrible. I'm on the fence about King Kong.
Have you ever felt like you just knew you and a certain other person would be together in the future? Perhaps more importantly: were you? What's your favorite 'story joke'? (i.e. not 'Why did the chicken cross the road?' but more 'A man and his wife were on a golf course. . .') For any actors out there: Where do you get your audition monologues?
Does anyone know any good websites to find sheet music for pianos/keyboards? Preferrably contemporary pop/alt stuff... I can find the classical everytwhere, I'd just like to switch it up. I'm actually looking more specifically for the sheet music to Mae - We're So Far Away, but also piano sites!
Thanks very much :) Hope you guys are enjoying your weekend!
So I went to the gym for the first time today -- very cool! I was familiar with all the stuff I have to do for my knees, but I didn't realize there's a whole other *floor* with treadmills, stairsteppers, stationary bikes, and ellipticals... wow. And a weight room, plus a free weights area with the big colorful balls you stretch with... this is fabulous. Even found the showers and the lockers and everything. I am so thrilled!
I noticed on the front desk they had a binder open to a page of guest passes where people signed their name, address, etc... so I'm thinking, exactly what qualifies someone to sign a guest pass? For example, could I bring my mom with me a couple times and she'd just sign there? How does that work? I didn't get the chance to ask... :/
If I'm going on a trip for 2 days, should I bring 4 outfits? **More specific, I'm going to this sleepover program at Lehigh where prospective students have the opportunity to go to class, meet faculty/current students/other seniors, and enjoy campus life. I'll be staying with a student host.
Ok, the person that lives accross the hall from me seems to be too cheap to pay for a phone. She has asked to use mine twice now. The first time, it was just after she moved in, and i figured hers wasn't hooked up yet, but she's just done it again, weeks later. I would prefer she didn't ask, and i don't really want to let her, but i'm not sure how to say it, as i've let her before. It's an inconvienence for me, and literally painful, as i not only have to stand there with the door open, but one of my cats got out tonight and i had to chase him. Being disabled, this is not easy. So...Suggestions for phrasing/ways to do it?
please don't just tell me to suck it up, it's my apartment and i'll do what i want, i just would like help with phrasing.
This is probably been posted before but I was just curious. I'm thinking of losing my virginity (I'm 16) to a guy I know (who's also 16) who I've known for ages but he's not my boyfriend or anything.
I was wondering what age you lost your virginity and if you wished you'd waited till you were older or till you were with someone special?
I really like this guy, he's cute, funny and sweet and I know he wouldn't be a prick afterwards so do you think I should do it? Or wait till I'm really in love with someone? Also if I do where should we do it, we can't do at my house or his. (both live with our parents) Where did you lose yours?
I remember seeing a lamp, that hung from the ceiling, and looked almost like an upside down Lotus blossom. I need a new lamp for my living room, so I started trying to find it. I thought it was from an Ikea catalouge, but I can't find it online and will never make it in time to my local store. I tried Googling things like "flower ceiling lamp" or "Lotus lamp" and while I am getting some neat hits, none of them are the lamp I'm looking for. The one I remember was white, but might have come in other colours. And it was pretty recently that I saw it (last few months at most). Can anyone help?
does anyone know what the song is in "jarhead"? it's played during the trailer and also during the end credits. i saw it earlier today and didn't stick around for the music credits (which are always last). thanks! (btw, the movie was good, i recommend it)
So I'm working on a debate about teacher testing in Massachusetts. My side is trying to prove that the two tests that every Massachusetts teacher has to take, a Communication and Literacy Skills test and a Subject Test, are harmful.
The points my partner and I have come up with so far are: racist biases in the test, it doesn't find good teachers just good test takers, the margins of error are huge, and that tests are used for political gain.
There must be some more major points, probably common sense, that we're just missing.
Can you think of any other reasons that teachers shouldn't have to take those tests in order to qualify for a license? Thanks so much!
I just had to reformat my computer and now I'm not getting any sound despite that I have my speakers plugged in. When I go to the volume control, it gives me an error window that says "There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, do to Control Panel, click Printers and other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware
This program will now close."
I do that, but I don't know which device to choose from the list they give me. None of them seem to have anything related to the speakers or anything audio.
For some reason or another, I'm starting to feel like I've missed out on hearing A LOT of great music that has been released in the past... 20 years or so. All right, my question is-- If you were making me some sort of mix tape, what songs would definitely need to be on it? Any and all genres! This may be a lot to ask, but it would really help... so thanks.
How do you eat your oreos? What do you dunk them in?
Me- I eat the top cookie, scrape the frosting off and take it out of my mouth and set it on a napkin, eat the other cookie, and then eat the frosting last. No matter how many cookies, I save up the frosting and eat it last. I dont dunk them in anything. I dont like milk. My mom dunks them in coffee?
1. Do you think the US should get rid of the electoral college? 2. What was your favorite media circus trial? 3. Have you ever written a letter to a politician? 4. Meat eaters: white meat or dark meat? 5. What do you think of Bill Maher?
A friend of mine asked me this question, and I wasn't able to answer it as well as I would have liked, so I figured to submit it here and see what y'all think.
She says: say someone somehow winds up having to live and survive in the middle of someplace where that person's native language is not spoken by anyone. so the person in question must learn the local language, without formal lessons. assuming a reasonable amount of intelligence, language-learning ability, and motivation to learn, how long might it take this person to become fairly fluent in the local language?
