Two questions...

1.) Anyone use Ad-Aware the 4th option? I forgot what it's called but it's suppossed to deep scan everything whatever that means. Lol It's suppossed to take up to 4 or 5 hours. I started it but it still says that "0 files have been scanned" but it also says "Deep scanning..." So does that mean it's just taking longer because it's deep scanning or is it not working?

2.) Shaving gel or shaving cream? Which do you prefer and why?

How do I install new language packs for my install of Windows XP Home?

I see all these ????? characters (question marks) on some webpages I frequent (no, this is not a[n] LJ entry :P), and I know it's because I don't have the correct language packs installed.

Where do I go to find these? If I install one, does it mean that I have to see everything in that language? How does it work, does anyone know?

Thank you!

My roommate needs a clip that she saw on MTVU (MTV University) for a psych project. It's a commercial type clip where it starts at age three and has a boy hormone and a girl hormone separate from each other, age thirteen where they're closer to each other and then nineteen where theyre basically having sex, Anyone know if there's anyway to find it and download it? Anyone know what I'm talking about at all?

i have a health question, i hope somebody can help me out.

for the past year or so, any time i eat anything it'll come back up in small increments every couple of minutes unless i voluntarily swallow it back down. i can bring up a whole meal in under an hour unless i voluntarily keep the food down. likewise, for most foods i eat this is accompanied by heartburn. last night around 6:30 i ate a small salad with balsamic vinaigrette and i was in pain for most of the night. this morning i got up at 6, still had heartburn, and actually brought up a bit of the salad. i thought food only stayed in one's stomach for 4 hours?

anyway, what would you say this condition is? indigestion? nothing i've read has said anything about the involuntary throwing up of small amounts of food. also, anybody have any ideas of what i could take to lessen the severity of this acidy feeling? ive taken tums and pepto bismol but it still hurts. this problem seems like it keeps getting worse and worse =0(

Car troubles! [Apr. 14th, 2005|08:26 am]

A weird thing is happening with my car.

Anytime I stop, like at a red light, my car will start to rock back and forth and the engine will start to putter. Once or twice, it's stalled. It's really freaking me out, as I CANNOT afford a new car (not yet, anyways... maybe in a few months or so).

What could this be? Could I just need a tune up?

Thanks in advance!

Have you ever visited a website that you could not exit by hitting the "Back" key on your browser (you can keep hitting the back key but it will just reload the same page you're on instead of going back to the previous web page).

Why do companies do this? How do they do it? And do they honestly think I'll just stay on their page and start giving them my business because I'm locked in, instead of closing the browser window to get out?

Twice now, I've thought of a movie or a book that I wanted to ask the question club about, and forgot what the plot was before I got to my computer. ("It had a boy... and a girl... and someone tells someone something...")

and i just now had a question, but have forgotten it as well...

Well, here's twothree. One, are there good methods to improve one's memory?

Two: I applied for a few positions at a local restaurant. I talked with one lady who basically wanted information about my summer/fall plans, any intramurals I was in, any experience I hadn't mentioned on my application, what positions I was interested in... and said she'd pass my app on to the individual hiring managers, who would get back to me by email, Wednesday at the latest. It is now Thursday, would it be okay to email her and ask... something? whether I'm still being considered or if i've been summarily rejected? Is there a polite way of asking? (I need to know, because If I don't get it I need to apply to McDonalds or whatever, some sort of guaranteed place, so that I can stay here this summer)

Three, inspired by a question asked in my sociology class and the girl's mis-behaving car here: Who thinks they have the worst car? I was the only person raising my hand in sociology class. My POSCollapse )

I was told to try fuel injector fluid in my car to see if that helps with the stalling and weird idling thing it has going on.

My problem is this - I have NO clue what this is and I have no clue where to put it. Does it go into the same thing I put gas into? Do I have to open the hood and put it somewhere in there? Is this a good idea to begin with (in case you didn't see the earlier post about this, my car is stalling and sputtering really bad when it stops at a red light or stops but is still in drive)?

Thanks in advance and I apologize for all of the moronic car questions!

[mood |heartbroken]

I just dropped my keyboard on the way out of a gig. Nobody would help me move it so I had to move it myself. I'm more worried about the keyboard than the toe I just broke.

It's not a high-end model so it's not roadworthy in the least. It's meant to be a teaching piano, something parents get their kids that isn't as expensive as an acoustic piano. It's not meant to be moved around at all. I'm aware of this. Every time I move it, I run the risk of breaking it.

But -- it still works. It looks like it got in a fight with somebody twice its size (that would be me, sadly), but it works. Every key plays, the display lights up, it's all there.

What are the odds that something got knocked loose and hasn't made itself known yet? Soldering points breaking off, wires getting bumped around, circuit boards cracked, I need all the worst-case scenarios you can possibly think of. What are the odds that it will start giving me problems now? What should I look for first? What are my warning signs? I've never had to deal with an instrument that's been abused and neglected.

It's nearly two years out of warranty but would a music store be able to look at it and repair whatever internal damage there might be? Would they be able to check for internal damage, at the very least? (I know I should call them but I'm so shaken up over this the last thing I want to do is talk on the phone with somebody.)

Okay, another two. What is one dumbfuck thing you cannot believe that you keep doing?
I get up before my roommate does, so I'll turn the volume all the way down before I start my computer. Hours later, maybe lunch-time ish, I'll start up itunes... and not realize for a good hour or so that I never turned up the volume, so music has been playing on mute.

Other than, say, religious issues, what are reasons that eligible people wouldn't want organs and such donated? given that the "oh, if you're an organ donor they won't try as hard to save you" is a bunch of crap... Because I recently got registered on the bone marrow donation thingy, and a friend remarked surprise that I'd be willing to do that, because marrow donation "hurts really bad."... Are there *good* reasons?

does anybody have any good quotes, facts, statistics, anti-war song lyrics, or ANYTHING else that could possibly help me in my notecard endeavors?

hey guys, i'm supposed to do this paper for my women's studies class that involves picking some ad campaign, whatever company it is, but the same product and finding it portrayed in different types of magazines like men's magazine vs women vs teen or gay. so same product, different ads, different mags. and show how the product is potrayed depending on which mag it's in.
Sooo, I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for the product... it should be something fairly popular that i could easily find in different mags.
Like a toyota ad campaign for example (someone's already doing that though).
Also, is there a website that would show the ad and say which mag it's in? cuz i really cant afford to spend money right now.

Yesterday a very prominent neo-nazi leader was shot and killed in Toronto, in the middle of the afternoon inside his apartment building.

I've been wondering if they'll be able to get any witnesses.

Let's just say, hypothetically, you saw someone get shot to death. And you could identify the shooter but for some reason you didn't report it to the police right away. And later you find out the victim was some similar KKK/Nazi leader.
Would you go to the cops? Or not?

After a little thought, i don't think i would.

I have a weird computer virus. It was my mistake for clicking the link I received on MSN without first waiting, or asking the person who sent it, but I guess it's my problem and I have to be more careful (I usually am more careful...). Anyways, this virus seems to run several applications called Project1 and IMs everyone online with something like, "Look, it's you! [link]", and obviously the link contains the virus. The virus sends itself almost out of the blue, and I'm never positive if it's gone or not.

It isn't detected in Hijack This, Spyware Guard, Spy Bot, or Omega Killer. Has anyone had this virus before and can help me figure this thing out?
