[littlecreep]
Sexuality has always been a major taboo in and out of society. The idea of acting free with their bits seems to horrify people to the core and even in our modern 60's style of living today we still cannot shake the dreaded feeling of disgusted when there is any display or talk of the region below. So I was wondering for the sake of pondering what are your views on the following:

1. Homosexulaity, gay marrage and gay parents.
2. If someone close to you or a member of your family came out what would you do? How would you act? How would you feel? Did you know?
3. When a man/woman is ecessivly sexualy active(whatever that is to you) and flaunts it how do you see that? If a man or woman acts like they are sexualy ecessive but are not what is your opinion on that?
4. What of female sanitary products, can you discuss these things or do you feel uncomforatable? Can you name a variety of products? Do you think it is approprate to discuss these things in public?
5. What about the advertiment for condoms, sanitary products and the awarness of stds? Do these things being broacasted to your viewing make you feel uncomforatable?
6. Do you think it is okay for a man to be sexualy excessive and not for a woman or the other way round?
7. What is your view on prostitution for males and females? Do you think it should be legal? Would you ever consider seeing a prostitude or be one? Why or why not?

Anything else to add feel free. Discuss, talk. Let me know.

10-4.

Buying guitar strings online, in the UK? [Feb. 7th, 2005|02:38 am]

I am going to buy some replacement nylon strings for my acoustic guitar this week, but had a sudden thought. Is there any site which could be said to be the site for buying guitar strings online? I mean, I could Google, but perhaps there is a site that is 'the one' - you know, like Amazon is for books, and Play is for CDs. I don't want to buy from any random site, I would appreciate recommendations.
Thank you!

Domain Transfer query [Feb. 7th, 2005|02:42 am]
The Question Club

[mood |curiouscurious]

For the domain savvy!

I have a domain -- lets call it MyDomain.com. It's registered through RegistrarA, which I don't like; I want to transfer it to either RegistrarB or RegistrarC. I bungled a transfer to RegistrarB less than a week ago (I forgot that the domain was locked. D'oh!), so, I've kissed that transfer fee goodbye (no big deal). Does that bungle count as a transfer? Both RegistrarB & RegistrarC state that a transfer cannot be done less than 60 days after a previous transfer, but I'm not sure if a botched transfer counts as a transfer. I don't want to lose another transfer fee, so, I'm inquiring here.

Thanks in advance! ;D

Why do you think people still use images like this one when they are obviously wrong?
Do people really think Jesus was a tall, handsome white man?

It's more than me being pedantic, surely those who believe in Jesus should try to depict him accurately. I know if I believed that I would.

Jury Duty? [Feb. 7th, 2005|04:43 am]

[freakneedle]
Anybody have an sure-fire ways to get out of jury duty? The first time I received a notice, I told them I was having surgery around the time the trial was about to start (the surgery was a slight possibility that never happened). The second time, I explained that my spiritual (not religious) beliefs keep me from casting judgement on another human being; I referred to it as Buddhism, even though it's not exactly what I practice (it's close, but no organized religion really comes close to my own set of personal beliefs).

So... any thoughts, anyone?

The phone is the devil. [Feb. 7th, 2005|07:28 am]

[mood |grumpygrumpy]

OK well I'm convinced of it now; the phone is the devil.

2:45 am, my phone rings. It's my mom, saying she just had a phone call from me on her cell phone show up, but no voicemail was left, it just showed up as a missed call. The call was from my home number, and showed up on her called id on her cell phone, but it being almost 3 am, she didn't get to the phone in time to pick up. She called to make sure everything was alright.

I, of course, being at home, asleep, and did not make any such phone call.

What is happening here? Any theories?

I thought maybe, since sometimes cell phones suck, that the missed call was actually from a while ago but just now has shown up? But my mom says it was actually ringing, not just beeping from a missed call.

Just another reason I hate phones, I suppose.

Insurance Question [Feb. 7th, 2005|08:37 am]

[partyupgal4ever]
I got into a car accident recently (I was a passenger) and now I have to deal with my boyfriend's insurance company. My mom said that I should be able to keep the case open for one year from the accident in case I get any worse. I bumped my head pretty hard and have pretty bad back strain. I went to the hospital the day after the accident and got all of the forms for no-fault MVA (I live in New York). Is the insurance agent correct when she says that she can't keep it open for one year? She said that she would call back in 3 weeks to see how I'm doing.

Okay, I'm probably just as sick as anyone else here about diet/weightloss questions... sorry.

BUT, I've been dieting and working out for quite some time now. When I look in the mirror I can SEE how much thinner I am. But when I go on the scale, I weigh exactly the same! I haven't done weight training so I don't think I could have gained that much muscle. All I did was alot of running around. Why won't the scale change? Are my eyes betraying me?

Say you have several spices that you've bought in bulk from a health food store, and they are currently being stored in little plastic bags. You'd like to store them in little jars or something, but you haven't gone through the spices that come in the little plastic containers, so you can't yet re-use them.

Where would you be able to find little jars or containers to store your spices in, for cheap?

Need advice/boyfriend issues [Feb. 7th, 2005|01:01 pm]
The Question Club

[crappyapril]
Ok. My boyfriend will NOT shut up about one of his female co-workers. He talks about her constantly and once we even went to dinner and oh what do you know she works here part time! It's really getting on my nerves. He's also mentioned before that she's just like me and yes I've met her and she's EXACTLY his type. I'm not a jealous person (although you can't tell with this post!) and this is the first time I've ever felt like this. I could be paranoid but all my boyfriends have cheated on me and although he says he's never cheated on any of his girlfriends I know that he fooled around with a girl who had a boyfriend and a married woman before. Both of which has made me very uneasy.

So...do I just shrug it off and learn to trust? Do I bring it up in a very delicate way (if so how?!). I don't know what to do but I HATE feeling this way and I want to shake him and tell him to shut up which can't be good.

Help!

Does dog/pet sitting prices vary by area? I was asked to pet sit over a 5 day weekend in which there are two dogs and probably two hampsters I will be taking care of. Can anyone ballpark a price of about how much I should charge, or am I better off calling some places around to find a price?

If I now realize that this is too much responsibility for me to have, is there any way I can gracefully say that I changed my mind and am not able to pet sit that weekend? I said I would probably be able to do it but left that in a message, this was last week. I know these people through babysitting.

For a presentation I am working on, my friends and I are showing the journey of life of a person, and how it would be different in a more primal world. We have everything ready, but we want a selection of prose (from a movie/book/etc) that would relate to the growing up, coming of age and whatnot of a person. Any ideas?

EDIT: I need a dialogue. <3

I was reading Yahoo! News at placement, and came across this article, about mercedes having the option of cloth seats instead of leather ones.

It just made me wonder.. do places slaughter cows just for leather? Like.. don't they use the other parts for other things too? Like the meat and such? I have a hard time believing that they're killing a cow just for the leather and dumping the meat - maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.

Please, enlighten me.

celebrities and advertising [Feb. 7th, 2005|07:42 pm]
The Question Club

thequestionclub

[katzies]
I've always wondered: Why do celebrities "sell" themselves to companies and appear in their commercials? I can understand it with young/new people, it's quick money and all that. I'd do it too, who knows how long I will be at the top and that million from Nike will sure be helpful then. I know some of them do it outside of the US, mostly in Asia so the commercials won't affect their "image" at home. But again, why? Nicole Kidman recently did something for Chanel. It was a nice spot and beautiful pictures but why did she do it? I doubt she has any special connection with Chanel so it was a personal concern to do it. And I doubt that Miss Supermoviestar Ex-Mrs Cruise needs that 2 or 5 million Dollar that bad. So, what do you think?

Mr DeNiro just did his credit card thing on my TV (Amex?), that's what reminded me of this.

How observant are you? [Feb. 7th, 2005|09:38 pm]
The Question Club

thequestionclub

[b0pp]
How observant are you? The following are questions about normal everyday things (for most people, but this does lean towards residents of US and Canada)

Average person only gets 7 right. This can be more difficult than it looks - it just shows how little most of us really see! There are 27 questions about things we see every day or have known about all our lives.

No cheating! No looking around! No getting out of your chair! No using anything on or in your desk or computer! No looking at the phone!

Write down your answers and then check your answers (in LJ cut) after completing all the questions.

1. On a standard traffic light, is the green on the top or bottom?
2. How many states are there in the USA? (Don't laugh, some people don't know)
3. In which hand is the Statue of Liberty's torch?
4. What six colors are on the classic Campbell's soup label?
5. What two numbers on the telephone dial don't have letters by them?
6. When you walk does your left arm swing with your right or left leg?
7. How many matches are in a standard pack?
8. On the United States flag is the top stripe red or white?
9. What is the lowest number on the FM dial?
10. Which way does water go down the drain, counter or clockwise? (In North America)
11. Which way does a "no smoking" sign's slash run?
12. How many channels on a VHF TV dial?
13. On which side of a women's blouse are the buttons?
14. Which way do fans rotate?
15. What is on the back of a Canadian dime?
16. How many sides does a stop sign have?
17. Do books have even-numbered pages on the right or left side?
18. How many lug nuts are on a standard car wheel?
19. How many sides are there on a standard pencil?
20. Sleepy, Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc. Who's missing?
21. How many hot dog buns are in a standard package?
22. On which playing card is the card maker's trademark?
23. On which side of a Venetian blind is the cord that adjusts the opening between the slats?
24. On the back of a Canadian $1 coin, what is in the centre?
25. There are 12 buttons on a touch tone phone. What 2 symbols bear no digits?
26. How many curves are there in the standard paper clip?
27. Does a merry-go-round turn counter or clockwise?
