I'm seriously considering switching my major. I'm currently majoring in English and double-minoring in theatre and secondary education, so I can teach high school theatre. On this plan, I'll be in school for five years - 4 to get a BA, working on some MAT courses in the 4th year, then finishing out the MAT in one more year.
I'm really thinking about scrapping that whole idea, because it feels like I'm only doing it because I felt like I had nothing better to do. I'm thinking I want to switch and get a BBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I wouldn't have to transfer anywhere because my university has an amazing business school and one of the better HTM programs in the country. If I change, I'll probably be here for 4 years AFTER this one (so 5 either way), because there are some classes I needed as a freshman that I didn't take because I wasn't intending to major in it. Also, with this program, the first year is the only 2-semester year - everything else requires summer courses. Which will be fine, because beginning next semester we'll have an apartment on a 12-month lease.
But before I get into this, can anybody tell me what careers there are for people with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration for Hospitality and Tourism Management? [After two years I have to choose a concentration - my options are: Food and Beverage Management, Lodging Management, Tourism and Entertainment, and Special Events and Meetings.]
(Sorry it's so long)
