Time and Temperature Phone Number?

Does anyone know the number for the Northern California time/date/temperature recording? I used to have the one for my old town, but I moved back in June and I don't know if it's different here or not [I only moved to a city 20 miles away]. If no one knows the nbr then any ideas/tips/places to call and find out? Oh and since a more specific location would help I work in Modesto, CA in Stanislaus County. Thx.

What are your views on asking to use the restroom in a place?

Personally if I don't see a bathroom sign they either don't have a public bathroom or I'm too dumb to find it myself, thus I don't deserve to use it. Yes, I live by this. Unless I have to pee so badly I will have an accident (which has only happened a couple times to me and I'm 23) I won't ask where the bathroom is.

Work rules.

I'm assuming the laws regarding breaks and whatnot are specific to each state or city, yes? Where can I find out what they are? I'd REALLY like to know when my employer is breaking a law because... well, I hate her. ^^

(sorry for two questions in a row but they WERE spaced out!)

Ever have a fight with someone you care sooo deeply about?
Then, not sure how to fix it, or why you are so sad in the first place?

Ever have your emotions just catch up to you, so far that you become really sad?

I am afraid to loose that friend. It isn't bad fighting, it's just emotions never supposed to come out like they have...

Has anyone ever felt this way?

There is a talent show coming up at my school and I was wondering if any of you had any ideas of some songs I could sing to showcase my voice. I'm a soprano 2 but I can sing as low as a tenor...basically I have a 3+ octave voice. Any suggestions would be appreciated :D

My cat just got a bath and flea treatment from the vet and a day later, she was infested with fleas again. She never goes outside I dont have any other cats. HOW does this happen? And when I gave the prescription treatment from the vet the first time, the fleas never went away. HOW does this happen?

OK, so I owe over a grand on my apartment's rent. I don't have it. I have roughly $300. I work two jobs and go to school, but I don't have that kind of money lying around. They want it by Feb. 1 or "the collection process will begin." First of all, I don't know what that means. Second of all, that frightens me. My parents gave me their old van to use while I'm at college, and it's in my name because they live in California and I live in Illinois, and if it was in their name I'd have to get the car to California for emissions tests or something. I don't know if they may seize that. Basically, I think I'm in deep shit. :o)

What can I do? I can't sell the van, I need it to get to work (the busses around here are nice, but don't run late enough at night for me to get home from work). This really blows. I have to stay until I'm done with school at the end of the semester, but I really can't afford to stay here. I've advertized for a subleaser and no one responded. How can I get out of this lease???

Is this for real?

My mom is wanting to sign up for one of those online things where you get paid, however to get started she has to send money in first and my sister and I are telling her to be careful and make sure it's legit. I had her send me links to the sites she was interested in so I could check them out but I'm still a lil unsure/haven't had much time to check them all out. What are you opinions on these programs? Legit or no?

random thoughts I just had...

1. What happened to computer companies from the early 90's like AST and Packard Bell? I think Acer's still out there but I haven't heard much about them lately either.

2. Have you been following the news on the Iraq elections? Any thoughts or opinions you care to share?

4. If you could live in any major city in the US, where would you live and why?

5. What was your first job?

French help!

While searching for my username, I came across this page:

It's a blog entry in French, and I gather it has something to do with blogs and interests. Someone in the comments mentioned my LJ, but I have no idea who they are nor why I am mentioned.

Can someone help translate that post and the comment and give me a gist of what they're saying?

edit: I've tried translating it online but I didn't understand a word of it, so I'm asking here...

job ops?

I'm seriously considering switching my major. I'm currently majoring in English and double-minoring in theatre and secondary education, so I can teach high school theatre. On this plan, I'll be in school for five years - 4 to get a BA, working on some MAT courses in the 4th year, then finishing out the MAT in one more year.

I'm really thinking about scrapping that whole idea, because it feels like I'm only doing it because I felt like I had nothing better to do. I'm thinking I want to switch and get a BBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management. I wouldn't have to transfer anywhere because my university has an amazing business school and one of the better HTM programs in the country. If I change, I'll probably be here for 4 years AFTER this one (so 5 either way), because there are some classes I needed as a freshman that I didn't take because I wasn't intending to major in it. Also, with this program, the first year is the only 2-semester year - everything else requires summer courses. Which will be fine, because beginning next semester we'll have an apartment on a 12-month lease.

But before I get into this, can anybody tell me what careers there are for people with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration for Hospitality and Tourism Management? [After two years I have to choose a concentration - my options are: Food and Beverage Management, Lodging Management, Tourism and Entertainment, and Special Events and Meetings.]

What was your worst school year?  Not grades-wise, but 'everything sucks'-wise.

It was seventh for me.  Absolute hell.  I'm amazed I didn't get held back; I never went to school.

Lovey questions

1. Have you ever dated anyone significantly younger?

2. Have you ever had a very-long distance relationship with someone you met online?

3. Did you eventually meet? Did it work out?

(no subject)

When you get into one of those reclusive, longing-to-be-loved-moods, but no one is around, what do you do?

If you could go back in time and meet yourself when you were younger (say 7 or 8), what would you tell yourself?

This is probably a silly question. I've just gotten Adobe Photoshop 7.0, and in the program there is - of course - Adobe Photoshop, and then something called Adobe Image Ready.

What's the difference between the two?

After having a baby, how did you lose the weight? Or what do you think was the best way to lose the weight in a healthy manner?

How much weight did you gain? How long did it take you to get the weight off?

Did you breastfeed? If yes, for how long? If no, why not?

Men, so you don't feel left out:

If you're a father, did you gain weight along with your baby's mom? Did you lose it after the baby was born?

That's it for now. . . teehee. . .

Which words should be capitalized in this title? Is fate making me write this particular title? I always forget which words are suppose to be capitalized...

If my mom promised me she'd take me to the store yesterday, broke her promise, then promised to take me today but made up excuses instead is that being fair to me? I feel she thinks just because she's the main adult in my life she can break her promises.

What do you do when you feel like your life is meaningless?

Let's say I'm going to New York City for vacation this year. And lets say that for the past three years, I've always gone in the summertime when it's freakin' humid and hot, and frankly, I'm not thrilled at the thought of another sweltering sticky vacation.

Between March and October, when would be the best time to go? I'm not worried about hotels or anything (I have friends that I stay with). Just temperature/humidity. (March is the earliest I could go, and after October... well, my boss would kill me.)

Oh and what event are you most looking forward to this year?

Anyone know what book this line is from? I already Googled it, and came up with one result, which told me it is from a book but not the title.

"The years had slipped away from her like clothes slipping from lovers shedding encumbrances in order to get down to the bare essence of their being."

Why do people voting in the Iraqi elections have purple ink on their fingers? What's it for?

I would think if people were worried about being targeted for voting, they wouldn't want to have such a conspicuous sign that they had.

When they have large realistic looking advertisements painted completely over a brick wall of a building, how do they do that? I mean the art obviously looks really real and good but its not wallpapered because you can see the bricks. I can't imagine they hire really good artists to do work like that. How do they paint those so realistically? Even using a grid seems like it would be hard to get the proportions right on such a large scale.

And when they are putting up billboards, how do they get it so that the wallpaper parts of the ad line up exactly? It seems really hard to do.

which is worse...

Do you think it's worse to bury a parent on your birthday, or file for divorce on your birthday?

They're both very unhappy events. I can't say which would be worse; they're both deaths of sorts.

I live in a university residence that is meant to be on 24-hour quiet all year.

My floor generally enjoys hanging out with each other. As such, we are louder than many other floors. I enjoy the hanging out during the day, but still want it quiet after 10pm. Of late, it is becoming increasingly common for the others to stay up until 1am making noise and keeping me awake as well. The noise I'm talking about are ones that are above the allowed levels. During the day, no one is bothered because all participate (there are only eight of us).

Is it appropriate for me to still join in during the afternoons and early- to mid-evenings if I'm going to be severe about the noise level at nights?

If you were conceieved out of wedlock, how do you feel about it?

My parents seperated when I was just a baby, but didn't bother to actually get divorced until last year, when I was 17. I'd always kind of suspected that their marriage had been of the shotgun variety (my mom was only 21 when I was born, and my dad is 9 years older than her), but I didn't want to know for sure so I never asked. Two days ago, I found their marriage certificate, tattered and discolored, carelessly thrown in a pile of papers on my mom's desk. Their wedding was less than three months before I was born. I was sobbing for over an hour. I was a mess, there was way too much to think about. I hated them for leaving me on my own to put together the peices. My conception had to have been a source of embarssment; they worked in the same office, surely there was gossip. I can't stop wondering if I was a candidate for adoption or abortion. Did they even want me at all? Did my grandmother pressure them into keeping me? Did I ruin their lives?

I told my boyfriend about it, and after he let me cry it out in his arms, he looked me in the eyes and asked "Why does it bother you so much?" I still don't have an answer.

coin collectors?

Does anybody know a good website about collectible coins or do we have a coin collector in the community? I received a coin as a present a few years ago and I'd like to know how much it's worth and if I could sell it and get some extra cash.

Favorite commercial?

Mine is totally Geico's "Tiny House"! It cracks me up every time. Close second is the "spillypants" commercial for Alexander Kieth's beer:

"What do you get when you mix a hand talker with a beer drinker?!? A SPILLY TALKER!"
