I want to make a mix of motivational songs. Any suggestions? Just songs that put you in a better mood, make you want to get up and do something.

What are some humorous phrases you know? What do they mean?

You'll always get a giggle out of me when one uses the phrases "for shits and giggles"(for kicks) and "until the cows come home"(for a long time).

[sullentimes]
What is the best love scene from a film?

If you could pick any 2 (or more, i guess) celebrities for a movie love scene, who would you choose?

i don't have a good answer for the first question, but if i could pick 2 people for a love scene it would totally have to be angelina jolie and johnny depp. wouldn't that be the best!?!?

Quick question - Ebay - Starting Price vs Reserve Price? What's the difference? Please answer ASAP. [Dec. 8th, 2004|02:16 am]

[thinkzinc]
Hiya,
I am, at this very moment, trying to sell my very first item on Ebay! But I am confuzzled! I want to get a good price for my item - around £50. I note that the lowest you can have a reserve price at is £50. It says that you are not obliged to sell if the price is not met. But what if I set a starting price at £50, surely I am not obliged to sell if nobody bids less than £50 - in fact, it would be impossible to bid any less, unless I am mistaken.
So what is the real difference?
Which is the best option; starting price or reserve price?
Thank you!!!!
x

Edit
I now have the answer to the above question =)
But I also have another Ebay question now!
I believe if an item doesn't sell first time, you can relist it one more time for free. Could I initially go for reserve, and if it didn't sell, then try starting price, or do you have to keep the same pricing policy both times?
Thanks!

How does electricity pricing work exactly?

If I leave the television on for an hour, how much does that cost?
A lamp?
The hot water heater?
The stove?

I remember a teacher in elementary saying something about it once, but I forget.

Just curious.

My electricity bill for this month was 32.17 and I live alone.
Is that good?

My dear friend, what is this our life? A boat that swims in the sea, and all one knows for certain about it is that one day it will capsize. Here we are, two good old boats that have been faithful neighbors, and above all your hand has done its best to keep me from "capsizing"! Let us then continue our voyage—each for the other's sake, for a long time yet, a long time! We should miss each other so much! Tolerably calm seas and good winds and above all sun—what I wish for myself, I wish for you, too, and am sorry that my gratitude can find expression only in such a wish and has no influence at all on wind or weather!

(Excerpt from letter written to Franz Overbeck: November 14, 1881 by Friedrich Nietzsche.)

Will you pass this along to all your friends?

[drusillamac]
I am a Politics student in my first year of university. As part of my first rounds of assessment I had to write an essay and hand it in on Monday (6th December). We had a choice of 5 essays and I picked one on political nationalism because I enjoyed the subject.

However my friend, eventually, decided she was going to pick the same essay topic. That's fine, no problem. But we are in the same tutorial group and our tutor knows we are doing the same essay. I managed to write my essay, got my mum to help me edit it (as my friend has been 'accidentally' copying some of my work recently) and handed it on Monday morning. The deadline was 4pm.

I went to see my friend (who was still finishing her essay) and read through a bit of it to see how she was doing. I was horrified to see her essay has essentially the same structure as mine and similar content. I had given her a basic copy of my essay to read earlier in the week but I stopped doing it when I saw sentences from my essay in her's.

Now I am terrifed that both of us are going to fail because of plagiarism. Our Politics department, as is any university, is very very very tough on plagiarism and could automatically fail someone on the course, as well as automatically failed the essay. This essay accounts for 10% of my final mark.

My question is should I contact my tutor and explain the situation? But I'm worried she'll see this as a confession that we did copy each other's essays. I've discussed this with my friend and she doesn't seem to care. She argues that most of the essays handed in will be similar. She argues because we have different statistics it won't be counted as plagiarism. Our essays are not handed back until the end of January 2005.

I am extremely worried about this because I know if you have plagiarism on your academic record that's you screwed.

Edit: I would like to point out that my language hasn't been copied but some of the ideas and points I've made have been.

I apologize in advance for letting my American ignorance shine through. It's not like anybody bothered to teach us about this stuff in school.

Anyway, I might be moving to Montreal. It's not my first choice, but that's love for ya.

Currently, I make $10/hour. Based on that, the highest rent I can afford is $1000/month. When I go looking for a job up there, do I look for the same wage (10 Canadian dollars per hour)? In Canada, is 40 hours a week the normal full-time schedule? Do they have an amount of income taxes deductions comparable to here in the US?

I'm scared that I won't make as much money up there as I would here and my budget will be all out of whack. I will be supporting another person, so I really need to be careful.

I really hope we end up somewhere in the states. This is way too complicated.

EDIT: I recieve $500 a month for the next three years from my dad (child support).

Red high temp spray paint [Dec. 8th, 2004|10:53 am]

So I went and bought some aluminum hang-from-the-celing-plug-in-the-wall 75watt light fixtures for $8 at Ikea on Monday because they were cheap and I needed lights.

Problem is, they're a plain metal finish, which does not go with my kitchen.

I want to spray paint them high gloss cherry red. But I can't find high temp paint in anything but flat white, black or beige. Does such a thing exist? Where would I get it?

What's your favorite fruit drink company, and your favorite drink made by that company? By that, I mean companies along the lines of Fuze, Nantucket Nectars, Odwalla, etc.

Also, what's your opinion on single-sex schools (colleges, high schools, whatever)? Good idea, bad idea? Stereotypes?
Edit: It's okay if you've never been to one, I just want to know what you think about them.

JUST between Kazaa Lite++ and Limewire, which is actually better?

I'm sure there are ones out there better than both, but I was just wondering between those two. My sister uses Limewire and all her songs finish in seconds, and they are actually the whole song. Kazaa Lite++ seems to take me atleast 15-20 minutes a song (dial up, haha) and lately anything NEW that I try to download plays that loud screetching sound mid song. My sister however, has no problem with new songs. She recommended I use it as well, but I also tend to notice that she's always bitching about viruses, and weird things happening to her computer...and I do not have that problem, haha.

Is there a difference really?

Recently...like this past couple of weeks, I've been getting really bad headaches about every other day or so. I've taken Tylenol each time and it goes away. But then 2 days later I get another one. I could just be laying in bed and all of a sudden get one. I don't really listen to music ultra loud, or do much that would make me have a headache. So what's wrong with me? Do you think this might be serious and I should go see a doctor?

Hello again.

Remember about a week or so ago when I asked a bunch of questions about sex, sexual orientation, protection, etc.? Well, that was just for the hell of it and I was doing the actual study at my school for a grade. The problem is that the school administration has a problem with the topic, and absolutely refuses to let me continue polling the other students. So, I talked to my teacher and told him about how I asked here, and he thought an internet poll could yield interesting results.

What I'm asking is for those of you with sexual experience to please answer the following questions honestly. All results will be completely anonymous. Please do not look at the responses of others before posting your own. I'm leaving the responses public because they sparked good discussions last time.

Questions are here.Collapse )

archery [Dec. 8th, 2004|08:41 pm]

There's a scene in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, where he shoots two arrows at once, so that they spread out toward two different targets in front of him. Before he shoots, as he lifts the arrows and knocks them, he bites two of the flights off -- one from each arrow, presumably.

So. Does anyone know what removing one flight from an arrow would do? Would it make it "spread out" to the side? Is it just because the two arrows would catch on each other if they both had flights on the touching sides (which is the one I'd go for)? Or something else?

Yeah, another acne question.
I hate my face. Sometimes the only way I get through a day is to pretend it isn't there. I just act like the happy pretty kids and its okay.

Please, why do I get thirteen zits on one half of my face, and only ONE on the other half? Why?

My mom says I eat too much sugar and that is why I have acne (apparently, only one half of my face has caught on to this evilness).

*cries*

Okay, I guess, any acne advice at all?

so what do you say to someone when you acted like a complete idiot because you were infatuated with them for abotu 5 days until you actually got to know them better and realized a relationship would never work out? i have a guy, understandably, thinking i want to have his children or something since i fell all over him for a few days, and now i just want to say "uh.. okay.. nevermind". how do you actually go about saying that without confusing the hell out of them or making it think it's their fault, because this really is a "it's not you, it's me" situation! i'm very fickle and whimsical like that..........ugh.
