The Question Club

so i've heard that some people say "go figure"
but i say "no figure"
i remember hearing someone say that (or at least it sounded like that) a lonnggg time ago.
the other day i said "no figure" to my best friend and she thought it was so weird.
she told me that it's really "go figure" but it doesn't make sense to me.

the reason why "no figure" makes more since to me
is because i've thought of it as a replacement of "no kidding" or "no $h*t"

can someone possibly break down "go figure" so that i can understand it and try to erase "no figure" from my puzzled mind?
it just doesn't make any sense at all!!

My first boyfriend said that his mom told him that hickeys cause cancer. Was I right to call this bullshit? Please tell me I'm right.

OK, I would usually do the research myself, but I have a migraine and I have to go lie down...What's the difference between "lying in repose" and "lying in state"?

I recently fell in luff with a couple of bands that I'd never heard of before. I was trying to explain their style to someone because neither band is Rock/Pop or Rap or Country, the usual catagories. Anyways. The person that I was talking to asked if it was Trip-Hop.

My question to you all is: What the heck is Trip-Hop music? And if you know of a certain group that I could sample, that would be awesome.

(P.S. I ended up finding more of these bands' CDs under Electronica. A whole new genre of music for me...)

Despite how you feel about Bush, what do you think the odds are that he'll get re-elected in November? I'm not asking what you want; I'm asking what you think will happen.

Personally? I think he'll win. Knocking out an incumbent president is not easy, and Kerry isn't much of a candidate.

i've got some stubborn adware on my pc. i run spybot, it's listed as "coolwwwedit". it's firmly attached to my registry. spybot can get rid of most of it, but not all. so it keeps coming back. i look for the offending bit in regedit, and it's not there.
i run norton professional, and it finds the adware "iefeats" and "winshow". it can't get rid of the problem. just like with the bits spybot finds, i can't find them to remove them either.
basically, they are really, really annoying. my homepage is redirected, sex sites are added to my favorites list, and of course there are popups. oh, and there's also this weird bit where certain words on websites become links to 'goto:whatever the word is'.
i'm about ready to pull out my hair.
what are your suggestions?

A question for a history buff [Jun. 8th, 2004|12:04 pm]

What do the letters in "sos" mean, if anything? The clearest answer I got so far was that it was more about morris code- because sos is long long long short short short long long long, which makes it easily read as a distress code. But what is the history behind the term?

Why I made the sublimedirectory, which is a porn site, I have no idea - do you think it's spam? Has anyone else ever had this message?

I heard on the radio that by the time the average kid graduates high school, they have eaten about 15,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I don't remember eating very many growing up. Do you think you ate anywhere close to that number?

Does jury duty selection come from voter registration?

That's what I've always heard, but I asked two different people recently and one said voter and the other said it came from your driver's license. So, now I'm curious.
