Is there some sort of remote way to access the internet?

When I go abroad, I'd like to take my laptop and go on line without the hassle of visiting an internet cafe. Is it possible?

[music |Better, Hoobastank]

Ok. I'm supposed to write a speech to deliver on Friday, and it is to be 1 minute long, and on any subject of my choice. The only thing it needs to include are those stylistic devices such as alliteration and antimetabole and all those good things. And I must persuade, because it's a persuasive speech.

And my english teacher has a habit of singling me out, because I'm quiet and therefore easy prey, I guess. So every class since assigning this he has been asking me what I'm speaking about. I, naturally, have no idea. He suggested me talking about why I should write a speech, but I am too proud to take a topic that he gave me, plus someone else in my class decided to steal it already by arguing why he shouldn't have to make a speech. I want something that might get him off my back about participation, and that's different enough to somewhat stand out, but I can't think of a single thing. Not a single thing.

Anyone have any ideas? Anything at all really, I need some sort of inspiration..

What are these called? [Sep. 14th, 2003|02:27 pm]
The Question Club

[mood |curiouscurious]

I saw one of these machines at a thrift store yesterday. I wanted to find out more about them online, but couldn't really find the words to describe it. Google searches for "big ass stand up strap in vibrator thing maybe kind of dangerous?" turned up nothing.

There's a platform, you stand on it, up from the plateform stands a pole with a big electric motor on it. You strap yourself to it, turn it on, and it jiggles your midsection violently. Like so:

I gave it a shot at the store. It was scary. But strangely satisfying. That's me in the picture. I was wearing a shirt and shoes though. And I don't have a mullet. Yet.

So the question is: What are these things called? Should I have bought it for $40? Will I die now that I've used it? Thank you.

1) What causes you to add someone to a friends list?

2) What causes you to drop someone?

3) What would cause you to keep someone on a friends list that you might normally drop?

Does anyone know what song or band is playing in the Levi's low rise jeans commercial? The one where the girl breaks into the warehouse and steals her car back. I've googled the crap out of this and have looked at t.v. commercial sites for music - but I still can't find it.

song lyrics [Sep. 14th, 2003|04:52 pm]

[mood |naughtynaughty]
[music |Shrek - Hallelujah]

Theese lines are from the song "Hallelujah" (from Shrek)

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair

She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

so here is my question:
does anyone but me just see the kink in thoose words?

I would think since it is a song about God (atleast I think it is suppose to be) and they played it in a "kiddy movie" that it would -not- be kink..but maybe I am just strange, and find kink in everything (like I do with slash *g*) ^_^

Where is a good place to buy sterling silver earrings (studs and smaller earrings) online based in the UK?
I can't really find anywhere locally that has nice silver earrings cheap, I'm sort of fussy - I like them simple but not plain, nor can I find anywhere cheap that I can trust are actually selling me silver (I'm badly allergic to anything else), so I thought a check online might be an idea.

[music |bao han & nhu loan - lang du]

some people let the past effect them. we don't have control over what happened, but do we have control over the effect?

if we don't have control over the effect, does the saying "whatever happened is in the past, time to move on" goes with this situation?

i hope that wasn't too confusing...cuz i got confused somewhere on the lines...
