The Question Club

Have been lurking for awhile and commenting quite a bit recently, but I figured I should post and introduce myself and stuff so Hi! I'm Aprilly and I'm here. Now onto my question.

Do you believe in a human nature? If so, why? Do you believe it's biological or part of a universal unconscious kind of thing? If not, why? How do you explain the similarities between cultures and myth?

Jetta Commercial Music [Mar. 10th, 2003|07:27 am]
The Question Club

[music |(none)]

There's a Volkswagon Jetta commercial where a couple is loading their car up very early in the morning. Then it shows several different people closing their trunk, then the original couple driving away. A line of text appears saying something along the lines of "Run with a smaller crowd".

What song is that playing in the background?

Help [Mar. 10th, 2003|12:01 pm]
The Question Club

[mood |anxiousanxious]

My Creepy Crawler machine says it needs a 60 watt, 120V AC small base candelabra lamp bulb.

We have, but were about to return a pack of these, 60 watts of course.

Are they the same thing? I don't want to open these and not be able to return them.

Wanted: sweet, enveloping darkness [Mar. 10th, 2003|02:22 pm]
The Question Club

If you were looking for a way to block sunlight from coming into your computer room, what would you do?

I'm thinking hotel style blackout curtains, but I don't know where to look for them.

I'm so tired of squinting at my monitor when the sun comes pouring into my office in the afternoon, it gives me a headache. My current blinds and curtains are just sort of useless when the sun is right outside the window.

I guess I *could* move furniture around, but that's a worse nightmare than trying to find good curtains.

Besides, I love the idea of plunging my office into darkness in the middle of the afternoon.

chaucherific [Mar. 10th, 2003|06:37 pm]
The Question Club

Is 'chauchy'/'chochy' (I'm not exactly sure how to spell it) a localized term?

It refers to a guy ('the chauch') who, hm... this is kind of hard to explain.
  • spends a lot of time on his hair and appearance

  • wears lots of black leather, but not the biker variety

  • especially the shoes: they're usually black leather and very big

  • one brand they love is Diesel

  • sometimes they wear caps that are slightly tilted to one side

  • they wear fitted pants

  • they wear lots of silver jewelery (watches, chains, etc)

  • they usually smell quite strongly of cologne

Now, if you do know this term, do you have idea idea where it came from?

Spring cleaning [Mar. 10th, 2003|08:35 pm]
The Question Club

[mood |dirtydirty]

Just whooshed around my room, giving it a bit of a tidy, I very rarely go in my room other than to sleep or smoke so I don't tidy it much anymore.
Today I had a huge fight against the dust, mountains of the stuff, thick and black - what makes it even worse is that it's smokers dust (Tar brown sticky dirt)

So does anyone know a way to keep the dust off - I've just polished but I know all this thick dust will settle, it's probably impossible to keep it all off but do any of you know how to get rid of some of it??

Also anyone know a good way to clean toys, my room is full of soft toys, I have so many they don't all go in my room and the ones that are in my room are cramped onto every surface.
They are covered in dust and smokers dust - my white toys especially, my huge floppy white dog who sits on top of my wardrobe is now brown in places and sort of sticky (He'll HAVE to be dry cleaned as hes too big for our new washing machine) :'o(
How could I safely wash my other soft toys??
