PC Names? [Dec. 11th, 2002|03:06 pm]

I've recently acquired a "new" computer. It's an old, clunky Pentium Pro @200MHz, that I had gotten from a friend, who rescued it from the school's IT department's junk pile. The problem: it needs a name.

In the past, I've named my machines after various "animal sidekick" characters in anime series. (My desktop and laptop are Artemis and Luna, the cats from Sailor Moon, and my previous laptop was Mokona) I've been thinking of a new naming scheme for my PCs, but I haven't really thought of anything.

So, does anybody have any suggestions on what I should name my "new" old computer?

What do you do when you're alone in an elevator? I like to stretch sometimes ... pliés, partial back bends, etc. But usually I just watch the numbers.

Does anyone here use Sprint PCS and have the Visions thing? If so, do you have the LG5350 phone? If you do... could you help me with this a little bit? Most importantly I'm trying to figure out the whole messaging thing... and text messages from LJ... and getting on to AIM from my cell phone which I know people can do.... also downloading software to my phone. How do I do this stuff? If you'd rather not answer here, you can either IM me at yammer98 or you can send me an e-mail to ladygeekster@livejournal.com. Any help I could get on this would be greatly appreciated.

A lot of SprintPCS's web site is down... and last night their entire network was down... if I tried to call Customer Solutions it would hang up on me... even from my regular phone. So any help I can get would be most wonderfully appreciated. Thank you. ^_^

Is anyone else (at least on occasions) so addicted to your friends list that you get annoyed when no one's updated it in the five minutes it's taken you to read what's already there?

Right now I'm really bored and I just keep thinking "Why aren't you people updating?! Why?!?!"

Feh.

2 part question [Dec. 11th, 2002|09:08 pm]

Here it goes:

1. Has anyone here had a successful internet relationship? I mean someone that you met online, and currently are still with, or had a relatively decent relationship with in the past?

2. Do you believe long distance relationships are feasible? As in you might get to see one another once a month at best?

I'm kind of curious what some opinions are on the matter...and would like to hear some good/bad experiences.

I've been a member here for awhile, but I've never asked a question. I'm going to do so now.

This is for all the science fiction fans out there. Why do you enjoy science fiction? I mean, what do you get out of reading it and/or watching it?

I'm asking because I'm writing a paper for school on the subject. I have my own arguments for the paper, but I'm curious as to what other people think about it.

I don't really think there's any answer to this question, but I was watching The Year Without a Santa Claus (my favorite Christmas special, the Miser brothers rock!) and got to thinking:

What if life really was like a musical and we all broke out into song at random moments?
