Gender-Specific Grooming Standards

Why is there such a strong differentiation between requirements for women and for men regarding grooming? Namely, why is it required for a woman to shave her legs to keep from eliciting disgusted looks from guys (and other women), but, unless he has a really good reason (like being a swimmer) a guy cannot shave his legs for fear of seeming... "fruity?"

I have tried to develop a general standard of beauty that is applicable to both genders and which recognizes an individual's natural gifts and abilities. Is this so strange?

Here's a long rant in my LJ for more of my thoughts on the matter. (warning: a little fiery)
back off pierre!

this is the city, city of angels...

sorry if you see this more than once...

i was looking through that website that someone had posted in a community and i was amazed at how fucking stupid some kids can be about the punk culture. all through out the site it had racist comments about why punk should be left for the white kids and called African Americans, mixed, chinese, etc. nasty names. he also then proceeds to talk about how punk is not an image and that its something you live. its funny how he says everything about sleeping outside and wearing ripped shit thats old, and then proceeds to explain how he owns 9 pairs of bondage plaid "punx" pants he bought from hot topic for 85$ a pair. heh. fucking tard. people him him need to be shot in the head.

this might be offensive to some people so im lj-cutting it. (an excerpt from his site.)

go: to see just how much ignorance there is in the world...

funny thing is, isn't punk about sticking together? not caring what a person's "status" is? after reading that shit, i feel sick to be a white kid, but fuck him, hes an ass. HE NEEDS TO BE SHOT IN THE FRIGGEN HEAD!

...why the hell are people so fucking ignorant???

Music Online

I want to thank everyone who responded to that last question of mine. That was a lot of help.

And now another:

I'm an aspiring recording engineer. Recently I did a really great mix of a really great song and I would like to be able to share that with my online friends as well as be able to e-mail it to musicians who are thinking about having me record them.

My question is this: How can I take my cd and get it online. Is there anyway I can turn it into an mp3? Is there some sort of software I need to download in order to do that?

Thanks in advance.
