STP, according to the girl who started it, was created for a few reasons, mostly to include girls who wouldn't normally be involved in a sorority because of money issues, time commitment issues, or just not really wanting to deal with the bureaucracy of real sororities. So far, there has been a lot of effort made to parody real greek organizations, including coming up with an animal mascot (a Pterodactyl), and creating a comprehensive list of sorority symbols that includes the official cereal (lucky charms), official musical key (f melodic minor), official tv show (colbert report), and official woman composer. The motto is, "Te audire no possum. Musa sapientum fixa est in aure", which means: "I can't hear you. I have a banana in my ear." The whole idea, I guess, is to get the whole friendship-bonding experience without the aspects of a traditional sorority that turn people off from the whole idea.
So, finally, the questions:
1. Does your college/university have fake greek organizations?
2. If so, what are they like? What do you think about the people in them?
3. If there aren't any or you don't know about them, would you be tempted to get involved in a fake sorority like the one described?
