1. What books/movies/other/etc have you attended a midnight premiere or release for?

2. Did you go in costume, and as what?

3. Any fun stories or other comments?

1. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince books; Prisoner of Azkaban movie, and tonight I'm seeing the midnight release of Pirates of the Caribbean 2.

2. turning into 3. I wore some simple costumes to the PoA film. All my friends had just graduated high school that day, so we wore graduation robes and button down shirts and solid-colored ties in House colors. It was kind of great. We drove to NC from SC just to find a theater that was doing the midnight showing (though admittedly that was just like 40 minutes away) and drove back at 3 in the morning and stopped at Krispy Kreme in full costume regalia and all. Getting HBP at midnight was kind of cool because thanks to Books-a-Millions fastpass system and its proximity to my house, I was home ready to read my copy at 12:03 AM, shit yeah.

Oh, but my favorite midnight release story has to be that at the Barnes and Noble party for OotP, my best friend and I stole a larger-than-life cardboard Harry and have it to this day. We'd spotted it before and joked about taking it, and the night of we just said "sure, let's do it" and picked it up, walked out of the store, and put it in my car. WHOO. It remains the boldest and naughtiest thing I've done in my life, probably, har.

Tonight I'm not wearing anything noticeably weird to PotC2, but I am wearing a pair of stripey capris I always affectionately refer to as my pirate pants.
