Snip Snip

I have thick,2C to 3A type hair which is currently to partway down my upper arm cut in longer layers. I'm getting a haircut next week and am thinking of taking off a little more length than normal (4-6 inches maybe) I do know I don't want it super short because I like to be able to get it off my neck when it's hot or I'm working etc. Do you guys have any advice or ideas?
