A hypothetical...

How do you think you would have made it through your childhood and early youth if you not only knew that 'Santa Claus' was a cherished but make-believe tradition acted out [almost] every year by [most] parents, but also that YOUR parents refused to go through with the charade (in consideration of your advanced wisdom on the matter) ???

Would it have meant one less present each year?

Would your family have just 'made it up' with extra gifts during christmas?

Would you have felt a sense of loss or deprivation that ruined your childhood?

or

Is that what most of us either work out or get told at some stage or another, really not caring too deeply?

[I can ask this now, it's coming up to that mid-year time when some people do the xmas thing... um, whatsitcalled?]
