Question For Memorial Day

When you see active duty service men and women walking around in uniform, do you ever say to them anything like, "Thank you for your service"? Do you know anyone else who does?

I am a female veteran of the US Air Force. Many times when people find out I am a veteran, they thank me for my service. Oddly enough, I don't know how to answer them. "Thank you for thanking me" sounds stupid, and "You're welcome" kinda sounds pretentious. "It's okay" sounds stupid also. Any suggestions on a graceful way to acknowledge people's gratitude? I get this more than you would think, and after trying out those answers I listed, now I just smile and nod (and blush a little bit, ugh).
