The other day, I was sitting in the kitchen with my fam talking about long car trips. "They're not that bad, if you get a book on tape," I said. My siblings nodded in agreement, adding that language learning tapes could also be fun. My parents looked at each other and laughed. "You've only had 'tapes' for a small part of your life, yet you call CDs tapes?" I was struck by the fact that, yes, if we're talking about books or teach-you-a-language CD's, we call them tapes.
Is there anything you say that reflects the past? Have you heard people say things that reflect the past, and if so, what did they say? For instance, maybe someone used the word 'gay' to mean happy. Or maybe it was just the way they said their sentence, etc?
