I just got back from the dentist. I had a permanent crown put on, but I also had my teeth cleaned. It had been years since I had my teeth cleaned last (I had a bad experience with a dentist a while back and just now got over my anxiety enough to start going) and the hygienist said that I had a lot of tartar build up and that I might want to take an ibuprofen later because my mouth might be sore.

She didn't tell me it was going to be this sore. D: Is it normal for your gums/mouth to be really sore after a teeth cleaning? My jaw hurts as well from having my mouth open, but my gums along the top of my teeth just ache so badly. Is there anything else I can do besides take an ibuprofen? Any idea on how long they'll be sore for?

When's the last time you went to the dentist?
