When you were younger (aged 6-11), what kind of games did you and your friends play in the school yard?
Did you guys make any games up?
Did your teachers ever try to get you all involved in a game or activity at lunch, even though you wanted them to just butt out and let you be kids?

We played Shark Infested Custard, a variation of tag which used the markings on our school yard as safe places/islands. There was a small team of sharks, a team of swimmers and one lifeguard who indicated when it was cool to swim, and which island we had to get to when the sharks came out to tag us. I can't find any rules online so I can only assume it was made up by some of the older kids.

I remember a few occasions when all the staff would come out into the yard and engage the entire school in a giant hokey cokey. I have no idea why, but it happened a couple of times a year. I'm cringing just thinking about it.
