So I am trying to find a place to live in a new town where I'm moving for a job. I can, in theory, afford my own apartment, but I'm trying to see if I can save some money by moving into a shared housing situation.

There is an apartment complex that mostly caters to students at a local college, but anyone can rent from them. They have nothing but four bedroom apartments at this complex. I would get my own private room and bathroom, fully furnished. It's about three blocks away from where I work. There's indoor parking, all the utilities are included (and no overages), washer and dryer in the apartment, and the rent is so within my budget it's mind boggling.

The thing is, I will have no idea who my roommates are. The apartment complex will place people into the other rooms in my apartment as they apply. Most of them will probably be students. They say I can come into their office to fill out a compatibility form, but it's no guarantee that I'll end up with three other roommates who will get along with me.

What would you do in this situation, TQC? Rent this almost too good to be true room with a pretty significant catch, or find your own place?
